'Some of our food may be frozen, not fresh' was not a great introduction to the menu. We were assured, however, that this only applied in the winter and was a requirement of Italian law. There was nothing that was good about our meal, although some was passable, for example, the lamb chops. Most disappointing was the salad which was... More

We visited several places in Montepulciano but this restaurant was by far the best. They offer excellent wines, delicious dishes and the staff is very friendly. A must-try place :)

We have been to Il Covo today after a great day in Montepulciano. First of all we were disappointed, because we were not granted a good table outside, although there were many free seats and nobody came for the following hour. Of course we had to pay coperto 4€. Food was okay but everything was charged extra, i.e. few vegetables... More

A lovely family run restaurant - relatively inexpensive and child friendly. Menu in English as well as Italian and an English speaking owner who made us feel at home. The view from the balcony of Montepulciano at sunset was stunning. The food and wine complemented the experience perfectly. I would thoroughly recommend it - particularly as we were able to... More

You should visit this place. After stops in Rome, Positano and Florence we had had a number of great meals but Il Covo was one of the very best. We had the eggplant pie (essentially the best variation of eggplant parm you'll ever have), a simple salad which was fine, the picci - which is a thick spaghetti - and... More

We liked it very much while staying next to Montepulchiano. Stuff was really professional and friendly, very fresh seafood and nice view to the city. Ordered several plates to taste and all were best quality. Served really fast and desserts...... Our highest recommendations!

Say hello to Max when you visit Il Covo. This charming restaurant offers a wide variety of Tuscan specialties and excellent Tuscan wine. The terrace is large enough that you don't feel crowded but cozy enough for a fete a fete. We ordered the appetizer platter for two and were astonished at the number and quality of the items. Fortunately,... More

Meal was very good. We had panzanella, carpaccio, caprese, pizza, veal, pici with wild boar. The pici with wild boar was the most flavorful we had all week while dining in Tuscany
