A lovely vista view over the valley is a big plus with this restaurant. The meals tasted very nice although lacking in inspiration to the eye. Without a side dish or salad the meals would be very plain. I had roasted Guinea fowl it came with some onions and a small amount of finely shredded cabbage as the other meals... More

We saw this restaurant by coincedence. We booked the table with the best view. The wild boar tasted great. At first they gave me the wrong dish, but quickly after mentioned it to the waiter, I got my new dish.

Four years ago we had a fantastic meal at il Grifon D'Oro it was wonderful in every aspect. Fast forward four years, it was incomparable. It was not just below our previous experience, but was by far our most disappointing Tuscan food experience to date. The pasta was clearly pre-cooked with entrees coming out within minutes of being ordered. The... More

Caffe: While it's true there is a view from the ONE table on the pint sized balcony, the rest of the cafe has little to offer and no other view seating. We had a slice of apple cake and an apricot square. Both were very dry and decidedly stale. The tea was overpriced, the coffee average. In a breathtaking demonstration... More

great spot for a coffee out on the terrace overlooking the valley below. Our service was fantastic but have to say my croissant was pretty dry. coffee was decent though. They seemed to have a few other breakfast options including some dry cereals. anyway, not sure I would go back, the view from the place I was staying was as... More

Nice location, balcony with views and three staff to serve only 12 tables... mixture of two and four sweaters with one six... but the staff were chaotic and slow... And restricted by a crazy demarcation system they had going... One to take orders one to serve drinks one to serve food etc. (Meanwhile, upstairs in the caffe, there were at... More

The table overlooking the valley on the terrace balcony is worth waiting for! We enjoyed a bottle of wine with appetizers of cappuccino (brightened with lemon juice) and a trio of eggplant, chicken liver pate and local cheese fondue. Then a course is pasta carbonara and pasta with rage.

Excellent coffee, surroundings and an astounding view. This cafe has an air of nostalgic Italy with heavy, polished furnishings, glass doors and grand decor. Nothing to dislike apart from the occasional pushy tourist who insists on blocking the far reaching view to take, selfish photos. Everything else is tasteful and elegant.

We were here on our honeymoon and it was the most memorable meal of the whole trip. The waiter was very knowledgeable about every dish. He explained how each dish was made and where the ingredients came from. The wild boar pasta was so fresh and delicious. The tuscan bread was great as was the wine. I dream about going... More

The card and bill we received says Il Grifon D'Oro and in small letters below Ristorante del Caffe Poliziano. THE BEST restaurant we ate at in Montepulciano! and so reasonably priced. It needs to be noticed on TA
