Just popped in for a mid morning coffee. The cafe was established in 1868 and has been restored so has loads of character. We managed to get an outside table on the small terrace and enjoyed the sunshine, as well as our coffees (the amaretto coffee was lovely). It certainly no Starbucks but that's a good thing as far as... More

Nice place, but not so tradicional in that place. Looks like old big european coffes. Prices is a bit high. Coffee, cakes and service are awerage. Nothing worth repeating.

The Poliziano is a classic art nouveau cafe, beautifully designed and furnished, with excellent food and drink. Its balcony has a fine view of the countryside.

Quant old fashioned place with waiters who deliberately ignore you - clearly not liking tourists and preferring to serve locals. Which sucks as the whole town thrives on tourism. When you literally have to say "EXCUSE ME!" loudly in the face of someone whose ignored you (in an almost empty place) three times already - they are being rude. The... More

A friend and I stumbled upon this place upon arriving in Montepulciano and wished we had more time to spend on the terrace with those views. An elegant cafe/ restaurant with fantastic sweet treats and coffee! Highly recommend a visit.

Stopped here for coffee, drinks and snacks, asked for a table with a view , and were taken downstairs to a wonderful terrace and superb views. We received the best table in the house ( there are 2 tables at the front of the terrace, both with great views. Cakes were excellent, coffee good as usual and service ok. Location... More

After walking around town all day doing all of the touristy things on our list we were ready for a drink. This town staple is not to be missed. Walk thru the restaurant to the teeny tiny hanging ledge in the back for a view that goes on forever!

My wife and I have enjoyed a birthday celebrations @ Caffe Poliziano in May 2011 and again in Oct 2016. We love this place, great food, very accommodating and kind waiters. Great view of the valley from the terrace or comfortable in the upper dinning area too. Would not hesitate to go there again..The people of Montepulciano are wonderful, love... More

Caffè Poliziano Historical Place of Italy. This spacious and elegant Caffè in the historical centre of Montepulciano is a fine example of Art Nouveau design. For generations visitors and local residents have been able to enjoi a glorious view of of the Valdichiana from the balcony. Distinguished guests have included Carducci, Pirandello, Prezzolini, Malaparte, Mario del Monaco, Giulietta Masina,Ornella Muti,, Mario monicelli, Marina Doria di Savoia, Enrico Rava, Mauro Bolognini, Giorgio Battistelli, Licia Colò.... In 1992 the Caffè was lovingly restored to its former glory. Federico Fellini, who visited the "Poliziano" soon after, considered the atmosphere and style to be worthy of a great Central European city such as Vienna or Prague.
