I ate here 2 nights out of my 4 night visit. Great food, wine, service, and a genial, gregarious host/owner. The guinea fowl was a winner. I will be back one day.

Carlo is a very special chef, his partner a very special wine maker and his mother a very special waitress! We had stunning pasta followed by drunken Guinea fowl and deconstructed tiaramisu, the Argillae wines are really lovely and all in all this is a really great place to eat. Great value for money and a chef that is completely... More

Beautiful pasta, friendly service. You must watch the Julie Walters sketch two soups before you visit all added to the ambience.

Once again we turned up without a reservation. This trattoria is a little (but not very much) off the main streets, and they managed to fit us in with a warm greeting. The eponymous Carlo is very much in evidence and is chatty and helpful. the food is classic with a twist. Umbrichelli pasta was fab, and everything else was... More

This is a small restaurant in Orvieto where we had a delightful dinner. It has two small dinning rooms and you feel like you are having dinner at a friends house. The owner and his fiance made were attentive and we enjoyed the after dinner conversation. I particularly enjoyed the homemade pasta with the bolognese style sauce. We had the... More

Tucked away off the main corridor is Trattoria da Carlo. What a gem of a restaurant. 7 of us dined for lunch in this small and charming restaurant. Family owned and operated, the food and service was outstanding. With so many of us, we sampled and shared many of the dishes, each was superb. My sister ordered the guinea fowl,... More

This place is popular and on the evening we visited people without reservations appeared to be prepared to wait half an hour for a table. This may say more about the quality of other restaurants in Orvieto than the merits of this one. Our bruschetta was disappointing - a sort of creamed chick pea on dry Umbrian bread. My first... Trattoria da Carlo is a family business, owned by chef Carlo and his charming mother. The location of the trattoria is in a quaint courtyard setting. It was immediately obvious that the restaurant was filled with locals. Which, of course, is exactly what a tourist should be looking for when eating out. The meal was absolutely delicious and Carlo personally... More

We stumbled into Da Carlo while exploring the narrow walkways of the quaint hillside town of Orvieto. Without checking its ratings, we decided to take a chance. The menu looked good and we loved the quiet, romantically lit atmosphere. We ordered a 1/2 litre of the red house wine, and our first sip confirmed that we had made a good... More
