Being in Porto Santo Stefano for more than two weeks, and having tried most of its restaurants, I can say without doubts that this restaurant is the one which most touched my heart, stopped in there because of its good smell, located in front of...the dock has the best veracious, truthful and genuine seafood cuisine of the town. Crazy good the antipasti, as the anchovies with green apples, and the browns in pink sauce. Simple trattoria style, very good and kind service, great choice of wine. Most recommended!More
The most disgusting food I’ve ever had. I can’t believe the previous reviews saying that it was good. The menu was so dirty the pages were stuck together. We were tired and hungry so stayed- what a mistake... it wasn’t fresh seafood which is ironic...given its next door to the seafood market. The owner chef was dirty looking and served up what looked like left overs. No wine list to speak of and it was just Revolting.More
I really enjoyed that place and amazing views from there! I took calamari and shrimps - it was quite good. Even there were quite a lot people, we got our food pretty fast!
We were able to eat here without a table reservation having arrived late into evening. The staff are efficient and extremely hardworking but lacked the welcoming charm we had encountered for most of our break in the Maremma. There is a nice outdoor terrace with...limited seating and a larger indoor area. Its quite an intimate place though and we were lucky to get a table in the window. This place is all about the seafood. The platter was superb; the whole fish was accompanied by mussels, clams, scallops and giant prawns. The fish was filleted at the table and I struggled to finish the plate. Wines and beers are reasonable. We were too full to sample desserts!More
We stopped here for lunch, the chef/owner was also our server. The food was great! My husband had grilled fresh fish. And I had the gnocchi with shrimp. The gnocchi were great, light and pillowy in a wonderful tomato sauce. My husbands fish was cooked...perfectly. We started with the octopus salad which was also very good. A great meal and very reasonably priced!More
This is a good mid-priced sea-food restaurant in harbour of PSS. Food was fresh and tasty. Service was fast.
We were staying in Porto Santo Stefano during the month of January and the only restaurant open for lunch in the entire area was Trattoria del Sub, located in the center of the town's port, opposite the Giglio ferry dock. From the minute you walk...into the restaurant, you can't help but feel right at home in the very warm and cozy nautical-themed atmosphere. We were greeted at the door by the owner and chef, Goffredo, a real character reminiscent of the pirate days of old. Due to the fact it was off-season, Goffredo was also waiting on and clearing tables, which even for a younger person, (which he isn't) requires a lot of effort and attention. Amazingly, considering quite a few tables were occupied during the lunch hour, Goffredo was not only able to keep the service brisk, but was also able to cook up an absolutely amazing three-course meal of local seafood specialities. We highly recommend his fried seafood skewer appetizer, the spaghetti alle vongole and the grilled swordfish, the latter of which, even though previously frozen, tasted as fresh as ever. Also, highly recommend the local house wine, a delightfully crisp and refreshing Vermentino Toscano, which he buys from a local winery just up the coast. We purchased a case on the way out of town. To top things off, Goffredo treats you to his homemade limoncello and berry grappas. We were so impressed with the quality of the food, Goffredo's friendly service and great stories, we went back the next day.More
Enjoyed a familly lunch here. Grilled fish plate was generous and the linguine with squid ink and prawns was a good choice. Daughter enjoyed her spaghetti in tomato sauce, although a smaller portion would have been sufficient. House wine perfectly palatable, bread a little on...the dry side. Decent pint of lager.More
The best Ever!!!!! Every time i visit this place i feel like in a dream. Beautiful interior, great food and fantastic entertainment by Chef Goffredo, the Pirates of Silver Coast!!!!
We had a family lunch today, and had just a Bolognaise and Pasta Dish. The food was gorgeous, service good and pricing was ok
We stumbled across this restaurant while traveling around and I'm so glad we did. The proprietor/chef/host was incredibly kind and accommodating. Our food was delicious and very fresh. Also very plentiful and filling but happy to indulge in the fantastic homemade Limoncello afterwards. It was...one of the highlights of the holiday!More
