Just came back from this place after spending the day at the Millcroft Spa which is nearby. The food is to die for fresh and delicious. We had the Beer Beef Short Ribs, amazing. The place is cozy and even had a piano man. Everybody...who works there are super friendly and will give you an amazing customer service always with a smile. Special thanks to the waitress who looks so much like Lily Collings (from Emily in Paris), she was kind and gracious. Will definitely come back with family.More

Ate here for over ten years. Almost always ordering Jay's Rueben sandwich paired with an Ontario white wine. ($28.50 for 2 9oz glasses today) The last two times our go to entrée has changed dramatically. No longer is a Texas style bread used, now its...a thin smaller covering. There is no sauerkraut used, only a gooey white cheese and half the amount of pastrami leaving us hungry when we left. (2 Reubens $23)More

I had never heard of this restaurant before until it was recommended to us by some close friends. In fact, I had never heard of Alton, Ontario before either. We met our friends after an almost 1 hour drive from Mississauga, not knowing what to...expect, but looking forward to trying something new. The restaurant is an unassuming little place in Alton that is actually quite charming inside. There was a musician playing inside the restaurant, but we decided to sit on the back patio. The restaurant is actually quite casual and comfortable and the wait staff are friendly and attentive. I ordered the Wedge Salad, which I can honestly say was the best Wedge Salad I have ever had. My main course was a Scallop dish done in a curried sauce with mashed potatoes. Wonderful. I saw someone at another table order Veal Meatballs in a red sauce over pasta and it looked incredible. We were pleasantly surprised with how good this place was, and it could easily compete with any big city restaurants. It was worth the drive, and we will return again.More

Wonderfully charming interior, excellent service and great attention to detail in every dish. We had the French onion soup, wedge salad that was several notches up from The Keg's version; bacon wrapped veal meatloaf with gravy, garlic potatoes, and perfectly roasted cauliflower, red pepper, broccoli...and a whole carrot; juicy chicken parmesan with linguine which was enhanced further with an outstanding sauce. Everything was top notch and beautifully presented on warmed plates. We had no room for dessert but took home yummy bagels from their bakery which we had for breakfast. I think almost everyone there took home something from the bakery. My only complaint would be my Bloody Caesar. I must learn to ask first if it is made with chilled or room temperature clamato juice. It came without the signature garnishes of celery stalk and/or skewer of olives. Disappointing when that first sip is already tasting watered down and still warmish from the quickly melting ice cubes, especially when it was otherwise made well and of good size. Surprising, given the attention to detail to an otherwise very fine meal.More

A wonderful restaurant within walking distance of Millcroft Inn. A wide ranging menu and the food was excellent. They have a bake shop with bread, pies, sandwiches, and lot’s of cookies. A must of you are passing through the area.

Finally we can dine in again! Service was excellent. Cozy window table and an amazingly neatly printed menu on a chalkboard. (Seriously, whoever did this printing deserves an award!) As one might expect a few offerings were not available, just starting backup again after Covid...closures. Thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer of stuffed Yorkshire Pudding. We were sharing so they split it for us and it was beautifully presented on a bed of horseradish (mild) aioli, gravy over the tender braised beef , mashed potatoes and aged cheddar. Yum! Then we dug into huge portions of Bolognese Linguini with garlic toasts all served piping hot. We had lots of leftover to bring home. Before leaving we also visited the bakery counter for an excellent variety of cookies to savour later. It’s always worth the drive to Alton Mill. The Art Centre is closed Monday and Tuesdays so plan accordingly if you want a great meal and an outing. Reservations recommended.More
