We stayed 4 nights in the region and decided on the first night to have dinner at Castello di Poreta. The welcome was very warm, the view is stunning, the service is great and the food is delicious! We enjoyed our experience so much that...we returned 3 times. Danielo gave us the best advice about food, wine and region. The chef Anna Maria surprised us every time with high quality. The whole staff is very friendly. Must go place for a romantic evening or family diner to enjoy the greatest food of Umbrie!More

We had dinner here after one evening while staying in Poreta. After some unexpected diversions thanks to Google Maps we found our way to the restaurant. It isn’t well sign posted and the road up is very narrow and winding! No matter what anyone says...it isn’t a short walk! Having arrived there, we were greeted to the most stunning view over southern Umbria. The waiter was very helpful as all of the menu was in Italian. We had the proscuttio to start and main courses of Gnocchi with roast wood pigeon and stangozzi. The food was delicious and the view overlooking all of Umbria was worth the trip alone! We will be back!More

We visited Poreta on our walk from Assisi to Rome, being on the route of the Camino of St Francis. The small town of Poreto is above the Termi di Clitunno, the ancient springs and temple built by the Romans, near Trevi in beautiful Umbria....The Castello is perched high on a hill above Poreto, with spectacular views over the whole Vale of Umbria. The food was great local cuisine and the hospitality was warm and genuine. It has newly refurbished rooms as well, so you can stay the night after your meal. Sitting on the deck with a drink in your hand as the sun is going down is heaven.More

Visited and stayed as part of a walking holiday. Bedrooms are comfortable and functional, but the restaurant is truly lovely. Locally sourced ingredients with a strong focus on bio-dynamic produce. Their house red is a local Barbera/Merlot blend from Spoleto which was very, very good....The Calcabrina blue cheese blows your socks off. Those are the ingredients. The cooking was excellent too! And service was great with our waiter having a great knowledge of all the ingredients and what he was serving. Worth the trek up the hill.More

Worth the trek, though easier to drive to this castle for dinner. Definitely book. Staff know their food and are helpful and friendly. Interesting combinations of local ingredients and great desert menu for someone not overly keen on deserts ! Good value wine list and...plenty of choice. Would 're immense if you are in the area.More

We found this restaurant through Google. Spent there a relaxing night, with nice food and a beautiful view right from the top of the hills. Very young and creative staff who puts effort in what they do. I will definitely come back!

Really amazing find, stunning location and the food was outstanding. Wonderful service and such an interesting place to explore. Very contemporary interior to an ancient building, extremely cleverly done and a wonderful outside terrace area for Sunday Lunch. I highly recommend it, one of the...best meals we had on this trip.More

The setting for this restaurant is quite stunning. Come just before sunset and bask in the warm summer light. This is a slow food experience…meaning the service is a little slow. The food was good and the menu interesting, though the wine list could use...some elaboration.More

the location is amazing... be careful to find the place because signs on the road are not complete. Great view and sunsets over the valley. Vegetarian restaurant km 0. Very recommended.

We were staying at the Il Borgo della Marmotta/Villa della Genga in Poreta and discovered that the small castle visible on the hillside not far away had just opened as a restaurant. We had a delightful dinner one evening. The restaurant can be entered through...its own entrance and also through a side door of the chapel - very romantic. The restaurant is very stylish with a flickering black and white film projected along the top of one wall, which added to the atmosphere without being irritating. There are only a few tables by the window, but this is a conversion of an ancient building. A limited but ambitious menu. Great care to use good ingredients. Some of the dishes were superb, and none was a disappointment. Nice wines. The final bill was very reasonable, particularly taking into account the quality of the food. A possible and romantic excursion from Spoleto, but make sure of the directions. The road passes through the village of Poreta. Highly recommended.More
