The food was really good. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the magharita pizza was great! I'd go back for the pizza (minus the parsley added on it). It's table service which also adds to the charm of the place and will definitely go back for a second round

3 of us stopped here at the end of a day up that way. The service was good, the food yummy especially the ceviche (we didn't have pizza) and the surroundings interesting. The one negative- asked the waitress about the history of the sawmill and she did not know. Really need to know seeing this is a big feature of... More

My wife and I stopped for lunch here on a beautifully sunny day. We were very impressed with the setting, especially the way the outdoor seated area was layout. The service was second to none and the food was amazing. Wow is all we can say. Stop in if you are passing, you will not be disappointed.

Our family visited to celebrate a birthday, post Matakana Markets and pre snorkelling at Goat Island. We enjoyed the spacious table arrangement and outdoor setting. The staff were friendly and service was prompt. Everyone enjoyed their meals from the kids fish and chips, French Toast, and Mill Grill, Bagels and a Fish Taco. The chips were demolished and the Kumara... More

Restaurants come and go in this district....BUT Leigh Sawmill Café is still well worth the drive out to Leigh. (NB; NOT to be confused with the new Sawmill Brewery just north of Matakana.....don't waste your time stopping there- keep driving to Leigh! )

The meal was really good. Pizza and salad. They even catered for gluten-free. Lovely location. Family friendly.

The waitress this morning should have stayed at home. She clearly did not want to be at work. She sighed and rolled her eyes when we asked for a large coffee, sighing that..did we not already know...they don't have sizes they only have different style cups. She turned her back to us when she banged the plates of cake down... More

The best fish of the day (gurnard) I've had in a long time. Ended up sharing half of it with my husband because he found it so yummy too.

My wife and I came for dinner and our eyes must have been bigger than our stomachs! The menu offered amazing dinner options, and if you love pizza you won't be disappointed. You can pay a few dollars extra and do a half/half pizza too. One pizza to share is heaps, we got one each and had to roll ourselves... More
