During a rained out day me & some friends decided to dine in comfort at Cairncastle in the only place you can go Matties Meeting House, which is a lovely little country pub/restaurant in the centre of the village. The interior is what you can...expect of a country pub with wooden surfaces, historic images and memorabilia on the walls and a fireplace. When it came to ordering our food I was pleasantly surprised at what was on offer with moderate menu comprising of lots of fresh produce and variety. I got the Steak Sandwich with Garlic Chips and I have to say the Garlic chips with the steaks peppercorn sauce was fantastic. And don't forget to add a pint of Guinness.More

Went to Mattie’s, where we have been several times before while in County Antrim, to celebrate my stepdad’s 90th birthday ! Have always thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, Mattie’s chicken is to die for, and the atmosphere is great ! The Guinness apparently goes down...really well although I am sorry to say I don’t partake myself... A huge thank you to the staff for their efficient and friendly service and making our evening such a success !More

Used to live in the area and would regularly have called in for a drink. Roughly 2 years since I've been and I'm not really sure what to say? Is it just the hangover from Covid? The food was poor to put it mildly. Again...I appreciate chefs come and go but the actual quality of the meat and other ingredients had severely diminished. The whole bar area just looked run down. Couldn't advise anyone to go here at the minute. Hope it's temporary and it'll get back to it's old self soon.More

This is a no frills, friendly, warmly welcoming establishment where you'll definitely find something to suit from the extensive menu. Freshly cooked, ample servings of delicious food with friendly service and at great prices. Couldn't ask for more.

My family and I were visiting relatives over Christmas, and came across Matties, located on the beautiful Antrim coast. We were looking for somewhere to have a meal, and came away from Matties with lasting memories. We have travelled all over the UK and Ireland,...and have never experienced a better all round package. The food was exceptional, and the hospitality was even better. A big thank you to Martha and Allan, and the rest of the staff who made it a night that my family and I will always remember.I highly recommend Matties Meetinghouse to anyone who is looking for first class cuisine with a special Irish atmosphere.More

The first night we stumbled in around 8:00pm, right around the time they stop serving food. They not only made an exception to prepare a full meal for us, but they waited on us as if they actually cared that we enjoyed our experience. The...staff are very friendly, the sticky toffy pudding is to die for and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. We enjoyed the food so much we went back for dinner three nights in a row! Highly recommend this spot.More

We stopped here has the place had good reviews but did not get food. The initial impression was not good, dark dank entrance and pub area that seemed lit only by the glow of a gaming machine. A determined visitor, however, will find a more...welcoming lounge area to the rear and there is a pleasant beer garden area outside. The pub also has the most laid back cat I have ever met. Staff are friendly enough and there is a reasonable choice of beer.More
