The speciality of this small restaurant in the heart of picturesque Brantome is, they claim, Moules and Frites. We have been twice and on each occasion they apologised for there being no moles to be had. There is generally a tasty fish alternative, and I had an omelette with cepes, accompanied by home made chips and a small mixed salad.... More

Great value €20 and €25 menus, polite and prompt service and pitchers of 50cl local wine available for €8; what's not to like! Tastefully decorated too.

Have eaten here twice now. Both times having had @le Plat de Jour'. Small portions, but many of them.

I'm afraid the dames were not very galant in our case. We wanted a drink with the intention of looking at the menu to see if we fancied anything... nope... they were very quiet and no one sitting at the tables... no wonder!

This is in one of the most beautiful villages in the area and definitely worth the trip if not only for the restaurants for the Benedictine monastery close by. We can say that the patron of this restaurant is a no-nonsense person. I was told off - quite rightly actually - for starting to give an order before she was... More

it was the first café I came to walking from the river into the town. it is on the street, no river view but colourful and fun. its run by women, I met four. the atmosphere is colourful, pleasant and there is lots to watch. I had the dish of the day which was excellent, quick and very pleasant service.... More

Pretty and colourful frontage caught our eye so we investigated and found a very reasonably priced menu with plenty of choice. The 2 ladies serving were very friendly and helpful. Hot, sunny day but plenty of shade so we sat outside and 'people-watched' while we waited for our meals. We only wanted a light lunch - 2 of us had... More

We stopped around 11:45 am, exhausted and hungry. Most French resturaunts don't open till 12:00 and are very strict about it! The hostess allowed us to sit and brought a cafe d'eau to drink while we waited for the majc lunch hour(s) to arrive. We ordered the giant prawns w/pasta and a quiche. All were good, as was the service.

The 25€ menu was delicious. I had the escargot casserole followed by the red mullet. Both were excellent. The tarte tatin and the chocolate fondant were also very tasty. The house white was acceptably slurpable. All in all a very enjoyable evening!

What lovely food and lovely people. Thoroughly enjoyed it. When we visit Brantome again we will definitely visit again.
