Our table was right on the water's edge and with no wind, the river and ducks were peaceful. Confit du canard really tender and tasty, as were the whitebait starter. Delicious home-made sauce tartare. Based on this experience, and the beauti of the town's setting, will return for a stay in the main hotel.

Called by and thought we would have a light lunch but went for the plat d jour any way. Service was relaxed not slow, food was impressive and location was wonderful, right by the river watching ducks and fish go by. My poor french vocabulary was not a problem to the staff who were all attentive I can only assume... More

I am trying not to laugh at some of the reviews for this restaurant. It isn't a fast food joint and service is at a leisurely pace for a reason. This was a highly enjoyable visit. An aperitif, 3 courses, coffee and a digestif over a leisurely 2 and a bit hours. No rush, just relaxed, but attentive service from... More

Lovely location, shame about the food. Service great, lovely staff beautiful location unfortunately the food was very mediocre, as we the recommended wine. This place could be worth a fortune. Honestly, up your food standards and you ll be euros in !! You ate missing a great opportunity.....go for it!

Beautiful setting, seating outside and inside. Immaculately clean, fantastic unobtrusive service. Friendly, no rush, everything good. Enjoy again and again. No distance from the car park though everywhere is close in Brantome!

What better way to pass a hot Sunday afternoon. A table by the river with canoeists for entertainment.

I visit this restaurant several times a year while on holiday in the Dordorgne. In the past I've had good food and nice ambiance but this year was truly shocked by the appalling service. We were placed at a table on the thoroughfare and my water and wine kept spilling over onto the table as people walked past. When I... More

Friendly efficient staff. Relatively good value menu that is by no means restricted to fish as the publicity outside suggests. We have only eaten on the outside terrace, but it looks nice inside also. Food very nice and we had an excellent evening meal.

Thought of as a fish restaurant, but also serve meats. Was busy when we called without a reservation, but a table became free after 20 minutes (but could go for a nice walk nearby whilst waiting). Had a range of food between the three of us, all good, especially the Strawberry Melba my wife and I had to finish. Friendly... More

Really lovely setting and food was good but not really special - Despite booking in advance via Moulin d 'la Abbaye when we arrived we had no reservation but they kindly gave us a nice table ! The visit from a local 'Otter' was a special treat !
