We've been coming to this restaurant for a number of years. It is always excellent. Fish is the main menu but there's a great selection and variety of menus at a range of prices. We'll be back again!

We had lunch here for our 29th wedding anniversary. What a find!! I must admit to having been reasonably uninspired by Calais as a town - like most Brits I am normally going somewhere else in France!! This time we chose to spend a bit...More

Eating alone isn't always the most enjoyable thing to do, but as I was on my own in Calais, and fancied a treat, I found this excellent restaurant, close to the seafront. It wasn't very full, and I had a table that gave me a...More

The sort of place that hasn't really changed for years, and why bother when it's like this? - professional, polite, efficient waiting staff - well laid tables, with all the right "materiel" for a serious shellfish fest - see photo - good selection of simply...More

We were looking for somewhere to enjoy a last Continental meal before boarding the Shuttle back to Blighty. The restaurant has many reminders of England and gives a splendid view of the ferries entering and leaving Calais' busy harbour but the cuisine is, thank goodness,...More

Description
Au Cote d'Argent restaurant right on the water at Calais faces the seawall with fascinating views of the watery parade of sea ferries churning in and out. The dining room puts you in the mood for excellent seafood, with varnished wood-panelled walls, marine blue carpeting and upholstery, nautical detailing and huge plate glass windows for viewing the waves. Chef Bertrand Lefebvre trained with some of Frances greatest chefs Paul Bocuse among them before opening his own restaurant here. The cuisine is simple, elegant in a selection of menus that include dishes like chicken livers sauted with mushrooms in sherry, fillet of red mullet with rice and shellfish with saffron or half lobster without shell but with coral sauce. The service is warm, the cooking refined and sophisticated, the wines are French and the experience a delight.
