Le Saintonge, restaurant gastronomique, est situé à Saintes, en Charente Maritime à 5 minutes de la sortie 35 (A10) et au centre du parc d’activité commercial atlantique. Ce restaurant chic et chaleureux vous propose une cuisine raffinée de saison. Le chef Didier Guilloneau a fait ses armes à l’hôtel des neiges à Courchevel, il a ensuite rejoint Michel Carrère à la Chamade à Bordeaux (1 macaron) et s’est rapproché de l’océan aux côté de Michel Suire aux Claires (1 macaron) à Bourcefranc. The food was very good the waiter very friendly and welcomed us very well.

We had the 48E tasting menu for lunch and it was such a disappointment. The service was friendly but lacking in all respects. We had to ask several times for water. The food was that of a restaurant trying to be worthy of being in the Michelin guide but sorely lacked quality ingredients, the freshness, the presentation and the flavor one would expect. With the exception of the foie gras course (which was average) and the pureed parsnips which were good, the food was pretty terrible. In fact my friend's stomach is ill tonight and we are gourmands who know food.
When I asked about the wine, the waiter said he was familiar with it and highly recommended it over another however, it was not good at all. It is sad that this area is so devoid of good restaurants but that is no excuse for the Michelin guide to offer up a place like this as a poor substitute. Very misleading!

We are atonished to see the comment you posted as far as your dinner of the 21st of october is concerned..
We are all the more surprised that you can have some hésitations concerning freshness and savour,we remind you that your friend and you have eaten all the 6 dishes corresponding to the Menu Degustation,exepted the pureed squid which has not been completely eaten by one of you,on the reason that it was too copious,you told our headwaiter.
When freshness is not respected you don't eat the dish,which seems to be the blatant truth to me!
As far as the wine is concerned,we want to remind you that our headwaiter had suggested that you can have a glass of wine that could be suitable to the course you had chosen.You had prefered to order for a Château Jandemant(Fronsac) instead,and we are awfully sorry if that wine was not suitable to the menu dégustation you had previously chosen,and if that wine was not suitable to your liking.
And we wish to apologize if our food did not meet your expectations.

I do not recommend this restaurant. The cod and shrimp are probably frozen, the Norwegian omelette is not homemade. Very disappointing.

Madame, avec ce seul avis à votre actif, permettez-nous de douter de votre maitrise du sujet. Bien que nous sommes désolés de votre déception au sujet de la qualité de votre plat, nous ne pouvons vous laisser affirmer de tels dires. Ce n’est pas parce qu’un plat n’est pas à votre gout que cela vous permet d’en déduire un avis « vraisemblable ». Je peux vous assurer que nous n’avons jamais servis et ne servirons jamais de poisson congelé ! Consultez les avis qui vous précèdent, je peux vs assurer qu’aucun ne relate la même chose que vous. Vous avez d’ailleurs posé la question au maitre d’hôtel à ce sujet qui vous a répondu la même chose et vous a d’ailleurs offert le verre de vin vu qu’il a constaté que le plat n'était pas à votre gout. Sachez que sur une simple demande de votre part, nous vous aurions remplacé le plat sans problème. Au sujet de l’omelette norvégienne, grand classique de notre restaurant, là aussi nous vous invitons à revoir vos connaissances, sachez que notre pâtissier Rodolphe réalise lui-même les omelettes norvégiennes depuis 34 ans dans notre maison, j’ai bien dit 34 ! Je vous laisse imaginer sa grande surprise à la lecture de votre commentaire…Enfin, vous vous permettez de dire que vous ne conseillez pas notre restaurant, nous sommes là aussi très surpris qu’avec un seul avis à votre actif, vous pensez avoir le niveau pour conseiller…nous vous invitons à lire le 2e avis 5 étoiles qui vous précède qui avec 782 contributions à son actif nous parait bien plus sérieux et objectif. Visiting this restaurant once a month, the service and quality of the dishes are always at the top level.
This was again the case this afternoon.
Only small complaint =) Only 1 starter offered on the daily menu at €22.50.
This day was very special (and the mix of flavors was very good) and we can understand why some people don't like it. Well there is no substitution entry. (see photos).

The room is very pleasant for eating, there is plenty of space between the tables and it is quiet.
The welcome and the service are really warm. Perfect for couples, commercial meals...
We had a starter and a main course from the daily menu for less than €20.
Both plates were perfect, lots of freshness for the sea bream fillet, served with seasonal vegetables. The quantities are sufficient, but for those with a sweet tooth it is possible to have a homemade dessert for €2 more.
The wine list is well stocked with reasonable prices. (1/2 Tavel rosé excellent for €15). We'll come back!

Although we didn't book for this afternoon, we were pampered! Personally not knowing, we can only be satisfied. Excellent value for money, cocooning atmosphere, excellent champagne! quality of the dishes both in their cooking and presentation, balanced portion. Very professional waitresses. Conclusion we can only come back to it and thank you.
