Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch today. We had the lamb and the turkey, well portioned and a great range of veg alongside perfectly cooked meats. Managed to squeeze in a portion of the sticky toffee pudding, but sadly that didn't survive long enough for a picture! We have had regular lunches here (the lasagne is a favourite) but this was our first Sunday trip- and we'll be back!

We had a very impressive and enjoyable Sunday lunch. The young staff were very organized and attentive. The food was piping hot and delicious. Because I wanted to have a pudding, I opted for a medium sized meal but it was still a generous portion. This is the first place I have been to which offers 3 size options of Sunday roast, i.e.: Childs, Small adult or adult. This is an excellent idea as it also cuts down on food being wasted by someone who has a smaller appetite. Will definitely look forward to another visit, an evening meal next time. Congratulations to Anne the owner and chef of the Halfway Inn for knowing how to run a very impressive business. 10 out of 10.

We went to the Halfway Inn for Sunday lunch and Friday dinner and both meals were fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their food and the portions were on the larger size. The service was really good and the staff made us feel welcome. Would recommend to anyone as they do glutenfree, vegetarian and vegan meals as well as normal ones.

I usually love it here so it was my first choice to celebrate my mum's significant milestone birthday. We were never asked about allergies or intolerances or dietary requirements but I saw they had gluten free options so thought it would be fine. Wrong. It was just a catalogue of disasters for the one person who deserved the best experience, my mum. She had a few options to select from on the menu so went with gluten free salmon with hollandaise sauce and hassleback potatoes. When the meal arrived it was salmon with carrots, other vegetables, gluten free Yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes. There was no hollandaise sauce or gluten free gravy so she just had a dry plate of food that was crying out for sauce. We asked where the hollandaise was, they said it wasn't gluten free. We asked where the hassleback potatoes were and we were told there weren't any with no apology. She wouldn't have picked the salmon if two thirds of the advertised dish wasn't going to be available or suitable. That was disappointing. The vegetarian option wasn't an option; there was only one thing on the menu. I ordered it because there was no choice, and it sounded appealing, it was a squash and cumin Wellington. I cut into it and it was full of chickpeas which wasn't on the description of the dish. I'm intolerant to chickpeas so that was really frustrating and bothersome. Also, the swede was hideously over seasoned with white pepper that blew everyone's mouths off. The veggie gravy was also massively fiery with herbs of some sort. It ruined anything it touched. I also had no Yorkshire pudding with my Sunday dinner. Really disappointing. Finally, the Eton mess was pretty poor. It was frozen berries which included a couple of raspberries and it came in a small dish for £6.95. The table next to us also ordered a child's size Eton mess dessert from the kids menu and it came in the exact same dish and was the same size yet much cheaper. Two in our party absolutely loved ALL of their food except the peppery swede but sadly it wasn't enough for me to rate it higher. We won't be back sadly.

There for birthday lunch which turned into a not so nice experience 😕. It says gluten free options but then doesn't tell you that vital ingredients will be missing from your plate. My salmon was dry no alternative to hollandaise sauce stated on menu, no hassleback potatoes as advertised, incidentally not got gluten anyway, replaced with two dollops of mash. Swede was overloaded with pepper, not pleasant. Everyone else had roast potatoes but missing from my plate no explanation. Poor show. My daughter's £6.75 Eton mess was like a child's portion in a little glass ramekin. The next table had three times bigger on a proper dessert plate. My daughter's was crammed into the ice cream on the bottom instead of separate as asked for resulting in a liquid mess. Really angry that my son paid so much for 6 people having birthday Sunday lunch that was not up to much. Will not be back.

Called in for dinner one night of our holiday, we both ordered the chicken pie with mash and veg. When the food was served it has no gravy so we asked for some gravy. My partners pie seemed full of chicken but mine only had three cubes of chicken and my veg was cold. I shouted someone over who took the pie and said it would be replaced, it took longer to be replaced than it had taken to arrive when we placed the order, my partner has finished his and he got no gravy. When the 2nd pie arrived, the plate of food was steaming and I immediately tipped the pie from the pie dish onto my plate, this time there was about 5 small cubes of chicken. The waitress asked if it was ok and I showed her the chicken, but I said I would eat it as I was hungry and my partner was now sat waiting. The food itself was nice, but even if I had eaten both pies the amount of chicken was still very very miserly. When I was asked later if everything was ok I repeated the tale again and one pie was removed from the bill. Staff are friendly, we had a dog and they are dog friendly.

One of the most fabulous Sunday dinners we've ever had and superb value too. The beef was succulent and huge slices, no skimping here nor or any of the veg. Simply wonderful, I wish I'd taken a photo to show you. The vegetarian wellington was equally commended by one of us too. Didn't have a pudding as we were too full but there was a great selection and again great value. Would definitely revisit.

If you have an whole afternoon to waste this would be a great place to enjoy the views, however if you are going for a family meal, you might need to take snacks as the wait was over an hour on both of our visits. First visit we gave them the benifit of the doubt but after waiting for over an hour and half on our second, being served after locals that arrived later than us and then being served meals that was not what we ordered but told its how it came until we said we had it before, which then they said they had ran out. I would like to say go as the food is good for a pub but really not worth the wait or being made to feel second class to the local residents.

Absolutely the best Sunday roast I've ever had when eating out! Moist, tender meat, variety of fresh vegetables, trimmings (stuffing, cranberry & Yorkshire pud), delicious grave and all perfectly cooked. The young staff so lovely, friendly and helpful made the experience a complete pleasure. We will most certainly be returning regularly now we've discovered this place with stunning views and a welcoming atmosphere.

We called in on Sunday and decided to have lunch we sat outside and waited and waited and waited, eventually we had our food which just about average in quality. It seemed that people eating outside were almost an after thought with the waiting staff being young and inexperienced. Probably won't be eating here again !

What can I say about this place? It really is a hidden gem on the way to Aberystwyth with great drinks, great staff and great food with fantastic views. We visited as part of our friends birthday party and it was a superb night. The service was brilliant with smiles on everyones faces and nothing was too much trouble. We visited again Sunday for a roast along with maybe 20 others from the party the night before and the food was outstanding and once again the service was brilliant. We absolutely loved this place. Would definitely recommend.

The measures for Covid made us feel safe. Staff were friendly and attentive, hubby's meal was OK, sadly my veg curry was the consistency of baby food and v bland and the worst rice I think I have ever had. I was hungry but couldn't eat the rice as it was so overcooked it was mush. The pudding was nice.

Met at the door and shown to our table, efficient and friendly staff, character pub with open fire and great views. Had an enjoyable family meal, the roast beef was tasty, plenty of vegetables and extra gravy - mash potatoes needed seasoning but otherwise very good and excellent value. Excellent vegetarian option. Wrap up warm if it's a cold day. Hope to visit again soon!

Wow, we have done many many pub stopovers in our motorhome and this has got to be the best yet!! We stopped in with no reservation as they were not answering their phones, but we could not have been made more welcome!! It was local darts night, which was great fun. The locals made a proper fuss of us and we felt like locals ourselves x x I cannot thank everyone enough for the warm welcome we were given. We didn’t order from the menu as there was no food on due to the darts, but they put on a lovely chip /sausage /chicken combo for everyone and we were encouraged to take part too which was lovely. The beer was very reasonably priced but I would have paid double for that welcome!! We even ended up peeling sprouts first tomorrow’s dinner-how about that for feeling at home!!! Thank you so much for a wonderful stopover x x
