First but not last time Sitara!

We are visiting Konstanz regularly but never visited the Sitara Restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and we chose the recommended daily menu. The chicken was nice and tasty. The service was efficient and friendly. We will come back.

Delicious Indian food

Last week visited Konstanz with my family and friends and found Sitara Indian restaurant over there . Without a doubt the best Indian restaurant I've been to outside India and the food was extremely tasty and delicious. Now I have good reason to visit Konstanz again and again. The restaurant owner came to us to get feedback on the food and at the end he offered tea ,coffee and desert to us (as a complementary dildar paaji) Thanks Paaji for such delicious food. Definitely will visit again.

Delicious food!!!

We had the mixed appetizer plate to share. Great little taste of different options. Recommend it for sure, even for just a snack. It's a big portion, could even be split between 3 or 4 people and then the main meal. We decided to have the recommended main offerings with lamb and chicken. Both were delicious!! We would go back here whenever we go back to the area, and is one of our top recommendations for anyone who likes Indian food, or is also up for just good food. Only thing is that the service was a little slow. We weren't in a rush, but it was a noticeable.

Bad food, worse service.

Short version: I've never eaten at a place with such good reviews and had such a bad experience. Longer version: The restaurant was uncomfortably hot and busy inside. The service was a disorganised mess. We had to ask multiple times for water (which we were charged twice for, and the waiter tried to argue with us when we pointed this out), glasses to drink it from, and the sauces that were supposed to come with our meal. Speaking of the food: onion bhajis should not taste mostly of flour. The main course was no better. The meal was shockingly bland - the thing with the most flavour was the naan bread. For anyone who knows anything about Indian food, that alone should be enough to make you think twice!

New Years Eve meal

We booked a table for 7 people in Sitara for New Year's Eve and we are so glad that we did. Everything from the service to the food was fantastic. Anoop was our waiter and not only did he serve us with delicious food, he served up some great entertainment too, with his playful manner. All our dishes were succulent and flavoursome and the portions were very generous, as were our hosts. Anoop gave us a masala dish on the house to taste (yummy) and a round of mango schnapps. I cannot rave enough about our host, he was so attentive, but added some spark and humour to our night too. Would recommend this place for the food and the service!!

All that glitters is not gold!!

We went to the restaurant on a Friday Evening. The ambience of the restaurant was amazing. We were waiting for the waiter to take our order. The restaurant was full. As we were asking about the food, the person was kind of irritated with our doubts. So we told him to come after 5 minutes, so we can take time to decide. He made a face and went away. We called the waiter after 10 minutes. We asked him again about a dish and he replied very rudely. He took some order and then just threw away the writing pad and made very rude face. He brought a drink that we had ordered and served us very rudely. We waited for another 10 minutes. Till then he was patiently taking order at another table. Once he was done, we asked him if there was any problem. He replied rudely again and this time his tone was really harsh. We finally walked out of the restaurant. The one star is only for the ambience.

Wonderful accommodating restaurant.

The food here was delicious. They adapted dishes to vegan versions without any argument or fuss. A very accommodating restaurant. The wonderful waiter called Anoop really made us laugh and made us feel really welcome. I would highly recommend.

The best Indian restaurant in Constance

I had a great pleasure to eat at the Sitara restaurant during my stay in Constance and it was a treat for the taste buds! The atmosphere is very cozy, we really feel carried away by the general atmosphere in India and the team is really on top. The restaurant manager welcomes you as if he were welcoming you into his home. I highly recommend this restaurant if you really want to travel and taste exceptional Indian food.

Charming and delicious

We came just as they opened as I needed to catch a train at 7pm. We beat the crowd and it quickly filled up. The staff are very nice, a man came by twice to ask if everything was to our liking. And when I realized we needed a yogart to go with the spicy green curry, it wasn’t difficult to get someone‘s attention. I accidentally said I wanted „tatziki“ and there was a moment of confusion before I realized my mistake and said „yogart“. I’m guess that some of the complaints I’ve read about the service come from not all the staff speaking fluent German or English. Sometimes we customers can be demanding, if people just relax and speak clearly perhaps the experience is good. We loved the green curry with lamb and the garlic naan. Truely excellent. When it came time to pay I was surprised that it was cash only. He told me there is a bank across the street, andI said I had a train to catch. He said I could just pay him next time. He said it 3 times and really meant it. I know I don’t live there and chose to run to the bank pay before catching my train. When I am in Konstanz again I look forward to returning and trying more of their dishes. It was a lovely meal.

So far the Best Indian Restaurant

We have been in Sitara already twice from Austria, and i habe to tell that everything was just AMAZING! The food was excellent we never had before souch a good Indian foods, we even had a chance to try an Indian street food as a starter which is not yet on the menu but hopefully it will be soon 😊 The service was extrem friendly, you dont have this experience in a lot of restaurants, they are very special. Thousand thanks again to Anu and Asit 🤗

It’s the BEST!

"We visited Konstanz for our son’s badminton tournament and stumbled upon the Indian restaurant Sitara during our evening stroll. Despite not having a reservation, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they somehow managed to arrange a table for us. The food was cooked to perfection and had a great balance of flavors. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and had a great atmosphere. On the second day after our son’s match, we visited Sitara again for lunch. Although we arrived late and the restaurant was closed, the owners Anoop Singh and Ajit Singh recognized us and kindly reopened the kitchen only for us. They served us delicious food and we were blown away by their kind hospitality. Hats off to them! After sharing our good experience with our whole club team who were in Konstanz, they requested us to take them to the same restaurant for dinner. We had a wonderful time and all of them enjoyed and appreciated each food item they had, be it vegetarian or non-vegetarian. They all said it was one of the best Indian restaurants they had visited so far in Europe! In short, I would highly recommend Sitara to anyone looking for a great meal and a wonderful dining experience. Thank you, Sitara, for making our trip to Konstanz so memorable!"

Best Indian Restaurant and Experience

Authentic Indian Restaurant with owner himself paying attention to each customer. Very friendly and service oriented. We ate Chhole & Bhature with Onion Salad and Achar with Mixed Kulfi as Dessert. Everything tasted right from original authentic food from India. In the we were also offered complimentary Indian Tea which was fabulous. Owners Ajeet & His Father are very friendly and with great customer care. Absolutely must for Indian dining!

Not the best quality and expensive

This restaurant is not my favorite. Why: Chicken Tikka Masala not the good taste The chicken meet was not grilled probably The chicken teriyaki was not good at all. Taste so la la and not spicy at all The pricing is high Not my favorite one

Happy, full and content!

The food is slightly on the pricey side of the spectrum, but oh man is it worth every penny. I would abstain from all other meals that day to come here. Ajit was a lovely host, has the friendliest smile and adds a shower of pleasant details to the restaurant that make one’s experience all the more delightful! Vegan options are insanely good too. The tea is overpriced in my opinion, but that’s ok. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be coming back.

Used to be better. Portion sizes down / prices up

Used to be very good indeed. But over the last 18 months portion sizes have decreased, especially on meat dishes while prices has increased disproportionately. Mixed grill is now 2/3 the size it used to be, no man bread, no curry sause, no salmon ! and a chicken pakora starter is now 5 very thin strips of chicken. The quality has remained consistent. But it’s now an expensive place to go. Pity used to be fantastic
