This place is without any doubt placed in a prime location and the view into the Rhine valley is superb. We sat outside and enjoyed it. However, the service concept is quite weird. To order, you have to queue quite long at what looks like...a makeshift food supply station. The pace of service is really slow. Coffee is served from a big canister. And although the vegetable soup we had was quite good we left with the feeling that the whole place is run somewhat amateurishly.More
This restaurant was built on the location of a German TV series by the name of Heimat (1,2 and 3), it was famous around 20 or more years ago. Our friends said that the view of the Rhine from this place is one of the...most beautiful ones. After eating and paying (110 euros for four people), in my opinion, the restaurant itself is not something special though food and service were okay the price is too high. iI is really one of the best views on the Rhine valley. There is a terrace which is overlooking the vineyards and the Rhine, people sit there to enjoy the sun (not us, we have enough sun in Israel). If you visit the area it would be worthwhile to go up there maybe have something light to eat and drink and enjoy the surroundings.More
My partner and I visited here with some friends when we were in Germany. This region in itself is stunning but the view from here is mesmerising. Undoubtedly one of the best Rhein views.
We had drinks and also sampled some cake and pflammkuchen with...cheese and pear. It was delicious - highly rscommended! All members of staff were extremely friendly and attentive and we couldn't fault anything.
A quick trip to the toilet takes you to the inside of the house, in which you can see some of the film set from one of the Heimat films. This definitely adds something to an already unique setting. We would love to return here next time we're in Germany!More
A lovely spot for photos of the valley and a stop for a glass of wine and a bite if you are walking to St Goar. Try the flammkuchen, sirt of like thin pizza with speck and onions. The waitress spoke English.
We celebrated the 60th birthday of my father in law and had lunch here, we ordered well ahead, set a menu and other arrangements. All our needs were considered. When we arrived everything was perfect, we were lucky to sit on the porch and soak...some rays of sun while enjoying a three course lunch. Staff was very nice and attentive. Great views across the Rhine Valley were awesome. We definitely come back!
Such a waste of time!
The menu is in german only. The water tried to translate but it was something like "blah blah served with potatoes. Don't know how to translate the first word"
I made a try and went inside to ask someone else...for help but people just kept running around without even looking at me.
So we just went away..
Dont understand why its such a problem to translate to english the shortest menu in the world?!
Why so not caring about the customer?More
This place is a jewel in the rhine river valley. Food and drinks were fantastic and the staff super friendly.
The view this place offers is truly incredible. Just the right place to reset and take a break.
We stopped here for a quick bite (good food but tiny menu) on our way to the Shoenberg Castle hotel, and the views alone are 5 star. So cool that you can see the castle and once you check into the castle you can see...this small well located restaurant on the hill in the distance overlooking the Rhine and the valley. Gorgeous. Wish we could have spent more time just soaking in the ambiance! Great visit.More
Glad we found this as it is a tourists must do. The view over the Rhine and Obervesel town are breathtaking and the food is very nice too. Nicely presented and good choices. Staff are helpful and really do go the extra mile. The place...is not easy to get too but well worth the time and effort. Quaint and interesting and highly recommendedMore
