Great restaurant along the road between Grenoble and Nice, perfekt pit-stop. Food is fantastic, fresh, healthy, seasonal and awesome value for money. Selection of local wines perfect for those who don’t sit afterwards behind the wheel. They also offer guest-rooms for those who need some sleep. Parklike surroundings in between mountains, nice to walk some movement into your legs before retaking the road.

We were driving from Annecy down to the Côte d’Azur and decided to pull off at Le Chalet for lunch. We were not disappointed. They gave us friendly and prompt service and the food was delicious and wholesome. We would recommend to anyone.

Located 70 miles south of Grenoble and 85 north of Sisteron in what is the bendy bit of the N75 between the two ends of the A51 autoroute, le Chalet was an unexpected discovery. We hadn't planned on stopping there. It was only we needed a break after the bends and the number and nationality of the cars parked outside intrigued us. Also the location - on a perch above the Michelin two-star Trièves countryside. Le Chalet itself is an understated establishment - featuring a restaurant and rooms for an overnight stay. The welcome is also understated, almost unprofessional, and, if it weren't for the happy faces of the lunchtime guests, we probably wouldn't have ordered a meal (especially having eaten so well the night before in Uriage-les-bains). The kitchen is not outstanding - rather homely/bon bourgeois/gut bürgerlich - but exceptionally well executed, freshly preapred and using the best, fresh ingredients. And, it's also amazing value for money (a quiche, an omelette, drinks and coffee for only 30 €). No wonder this place, in the middle of nowhere, is so renowned and patronized - also by dogs, who are made to feel as welcome as the guests. Viator ed cani Coloniae

Were passing through, accidentally saw the sign and stopped. It was excellent, delicious food from local products. It's very tasty. The owners themselves serve, speak English, very kind. If they could have stayed, they would have done it. I recommend to try everything, everything is home-made and fresh! Thank you.

We stumbled on this hotel/chalet on driving from Sanremo, Italy to Calais to return home to the UK. What a warm welcome on entering the hotel. Such pleasant service offered by the young gentleman. The chalet room was just perfect, spacious & comfortable and best of all not too expensive. We ate in their restaurant which was very pleasant with a good atmosphere. Service once again was faultless from the time we entered to the time we left. Nothing was too much for the owner and his wife who was the chef, both very pleasant offering service with a smile. To wake up the following morning with views of the Alps was breath taking along with the very fresh clean air. What a lovely picturesque setting, you could not ask for more. We will return.

We stopped there on the way to our holiday. We stayed overnight at this hotel and were able to enjoy the terrace for dinner. Beautiful establishment that offers good cuisine in a quiet and relaxing place with beautiful mountain views.

If the main course was tasty, a few false notes during this lunch, the aperitif took 20 minutes to arrive but we didn't have time to eat it until the lamb shoulder and its warm vegetables were served! No cheese on the menu, even requested! And the dessert is a bit basic and fair for the price. Concerning another unpleasant point, it would be wise to replace the chairs on the terrace in which you tilt at the bottom and no longer at the correct height of the table

Perfect stopover in the middle of Trieves in this chalet set back from the road, in a pleasant setting, like this fire in the fireplace which warms you pleasantly when it's 6° outside. A small menu, which is rather reassuring, especially when it comes to local products. Smiling welcome, like the service, especially since it was faultless. For my part, I was able to appreciate the ravioli gratin with its large slice of Vercors blue cheese which makes it even tastier. Otherwise, there was also a decent Charolais steak with fries and salad. Good homemade blueberry pie and reasonable price. Pitcher of Côtes du Rhône or craft beer to wash down this meal. So, if you are in the area, plan to stop there and, why not, stay there. Jean Michel

We have never been so disappointed! We have been coming here as guests for over 10 years, either for dinner or to stay overnight. The reception was rude, unwelcoming, and we also found it arrogant. Of our two booked rooms, only one was apparently reserved, and dogs were no longer allowed (we were not informed of this beforehand). The chalet looked closed, and dinner was out of the question. We were completely frustrated and had to look for somewhere else to stay, which seemed almost impossible as many hotels were still closed. We will continue our journey to France (we did find friendly hotel owners), but le Chalet is off our calendar.
