My family and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch. The £12:50 for 2 courses represented great value. I had the roast lamb which was delicious and the food was piping hot. The staff were warm and welcoming.

We've stayed in Braithwaite several times before but have never visited this pub, preferring previously to drive into Keswick for a meal. However, after a long day walking we decided to give it a try, expecting simple pub grub. This assumption does the food a disservice! The menu was extensive and varied and we felt spoilt for choice. It was... More

Hi thank you for your lovely review, I am sorry if your meal was spoiled by our TV. We only ever turn up the volume by request from our guests, and not at busy food times. I do hope this will not put you off visiting us next time you are in the area. Thank you Fiona More

We ate here on a couple of occasions on our visit to the Lakes and had a great meal both times. It's a standard "pub grub" menu but the meals are delicious. All the staff were very friendly, efficient and most welcoming; we would definitely call here again if we were in the area. Brilliant

We had two visits for dinner to this Pub Restaurant. Both were well cooked from an extensive menu. The staff were friendly and the bill was the best value for money by far that we found in the village. We understand that a major refurbishment of their bedrooms is due shortly and we would not hesitate to stay here. The... More

Always call in for a pint, good beers and friendly staff. But why oh why are dogs banned during food service?!! They could allow dogs in bar area only as there is a separate dining area. Loads of lost business!

Management response:

Hi, thanks for your review. We pride ourselves on accommodating all customers. Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs during meal times as service can get very busy. However, dogs are very welcome in our outside seating area at any time, or inside when we're not serving food. We hope to see you again. Fiona (new owner) More

Found the meals here to be the best value in the village & the most cheerful surroundings. On 2 consecutive nights we had the small meal option, which was still plenty. The food was good and the service was prompt and friendly despite the pub's being packed. Good place just for a drink, too.

Having spent a long day in the hills we stopped at the Royal Oak for a couple of well earned pints on our way back to Scotgate caravan park. The open coal fire was a welcoming site and great for our two pooches to chill out whilst we consumed a couple of pints of Jennings. The only downside was we... More

As chance would have it we ended up spending New Years Eve hear with 6 other friends. What a fantastic night, unfortunately we couldn't get any food as we hadn't booked,, but the drink flowed nicely. Amazing fire works display, and the new land lady couldn't be more attentive and accommodating. amazing what she pulled off to say she only... More

We were staying in the local village over new year. Food was average and service could have been more welcoming. However good place for a few afternoon drinks and watch the sport! New Year's Eve fireworks amazing!!

My friends and I had decided to eat here following the completion of a number of Wainwrights. On the whole we were impressed. A good range of beers, decent prices and very good food. I would recommend the Cumberland Sausage with mash, vegetables and gravy. When next in the area it is highly likely that I would eat here again.
