Archetypal pub on village green. Lovely place for a beer outdoors. Nice local beer. Only had the steak and ale pie but that I'm afraid was very ordinary.

I agree with all the recent reviews...fantastic setting but has gone down hill....Just look at the menu and compare it with one of the numerous gourmet pubs in the area. Feedback is a gift and the management should do something about their food before it...More
This is one of the prettiest pubs in Sussex in a great location. We have been there before and loved it. However, sadly, it has gone downhill. The menu is much more limited and down market. We had the veggie burger which was ok in...More
Been there before but some while ago. Lovely setting and oldy worldly pub. Great atmosphere and friendly and efficient staff. Typical pub food, not to exotic but very good. My Wife and I both had the fish and chips which was magnificent, especially the beer...More

Walked here last evening. We were needing a meal but the general appearance of the place (including stinky toilets) put us off staying for any more than a quick drink. In fact few people seemed to be ordering food. Luckily the Thai restaurant nearby had...More
Where to start? I ordered a mushroom linguine however how you and I would usually picture this, a rather small portion of bland linguine arrived on a bed of mushy tomato sauce, few tasteless mushrooms and Iceland-standard garlic bread which was burnt around the edges....More
Stopped for lunch and a pint, great service. Got there just in time before the rush as obviously really popular. Bonkers little setting - the village is like a TV set, doesnt seem real.
A beautiful, picturesque location right here in the tory heartland to have a decent pub lunch. You get your own cutlery and sauce is provided in little packets. Had the salmon salad which was very generous with 2 fillets of salmon. There could have been...More
