Service was good, the waitress was helpful about our food choices. The food arrived promptly and I can recommend the poached peaches for dessert.

Good homemade, tasty food just visited this restaurant as we are on a short break in the area. Would recommend the Nannies Cottage pie it was very tasty, filling and definitely homemade unfortunately I couldn't manage a dessert but my husband did he had ever the cheesecake which he said was lovely. On holiday and decided to go The George Inn for an evening meal out. Tasty homemade food, friendly staff and a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend for families or large groups. Definitely come here again next time. Free Wi-fi also.

Lovely food in a lovely peaceful restaurant. Not really child friendly, but if you eat early should be OK if kids are a tad noisy.

Was recommended the George for evening meal when nowhere open to eat in Lydney!!!!! Loved it. The decor is gorgeous, good atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is amazing, the Chicken stack very plentiful, chips best I've had in years and the risotto tasty. Plenty of parking and lovely flowers, making the outside vey attractive. What's not to like. The restaurant gave a good menu choice for us, I loved the chicken tikka and Jambalaya, my wife really appreciated the baked camembert and lasagna with a reasonably priced wine. No room for sweets! A friendly and efficient service, not rushed and a bubbly atmosphere around us. Wish it was in my area, cask ale was tiptop for me.

After some years absence I returned to this part of the world on business. I remembered how good this restaurant used to be, so thought I would give it a go and see if it had changed. It had. It was excellent before, and now it is even better. Chicken Tikka bites were my choice for the 'healthy option' starter,... More

Description
The Forester Newspaper 'Restaurant of the Year Finalist 2013' The Millingbrook Restaurant offers a wide range of fresh food from Lighter Bites to Traditional Home Cooked Meals. The George Inn prides itself on great service, an imaginative menu and we are Forest Famous for our value for money. The restaurant is open all year round and our garden is available during the summer months for al fresco dining. Our food is locally sourced whenever possible, for example our Meat is sourced from Fitzgerald's Butchers in Lydney, Cheese from Miller's in Newnham and we use the Finest Butter from Netherend Dairy Farm. Pre-booking is always recommended for evening meals and our Sunday Carvery.
