So me and some friends went there for a meal out as was a birthday in the group. Got there and a Welsh lady served us; talking very quick almost too quick. Sat down, ordered drinks, ordered food, all good. Me and a friends steak came but not my other friends steak. Lady came over and said that they had got the orders mixed up and chef was trying to cook it as quickly as they can. Steak came out and it was medium rare, not the medium we had all asked for. We sent it back and asked for it to be medium cooked, it then came out well done. We had lost the will a bit but the Belgian waffle for dessert was extremely tasty. If you are charging Prius prices you need to cook a steak properly and learn how to take orders!!

We were staying at a local campsite and decided to support the local restaurant. Great service and food was quick coming out and tasted delicious. It was however very expensive and really wasn’t worth what we paid. The drinks were overpriced as were the deserts. It’s a shame as we would have returned if we hadn’t been charged the earth.

Has always been our default for an evening meal when we come on our long biking weekend but has fallen away a bit. Food positions have shrunk and the prices increased. Still a good place to go due to its location but not as good as it once was. On a more positive note the service is as friendly as ever and the menu is decent. Appreciate costs have increased but others don’t seem to have squeezed the offering quite as much.

I was looking for somewhere to stay in the area and found this beautiful place on Devils Bridge. The room was Bryn Bras which was located on the top floor looking over the Vally and was stunning! The hotel is lovely and the staff are too. Friendly and helpful with anything needed. We ate in the restaurant both nights. The first night i tried the fish and chips they were delicious and I highly recommend. The second night was a Sunday evening and roast meals were on the menu so I chose the beef and partner had lamb. Well what can I say?! Probably the best roast dinner I’ve had out anywhere! 5 stars 🌟 and I’ll plan my next stay so it’s a Sunday again! Breakfast was very good although missing a couple items like black budding and lava bread but forgivable as it was busy but still a fantastic stay and we will 100% be back in the near future.

We ordered 4 differed main meals and all of them were awful! Buttered fish - dry inside, served with a spoonful of dry peas instead of mushy peas. Lamb shoulder served as pulled meat not as per menu lamb shank. Potatoes and carrots very soft and tasted like leftovers from Sunday dinner. Awful. Curry overdone with cream and extremely dry chicken and cold pita bread, not mention cold rice and they forgot to serve the extra rice we ordered. However when questioned this, they “kindly” confirmed we were not charged for extra rice but this is not a point. The most disgusting was chicken stir fry - dry chicken and vegetable soaked in dark soya sauce. Awful my child did not want to eat this at all and I don’t blame him because it tasted like cold Worcester Sauce. When I commented on this the waitress replied they always serve this like this and she cannot do anything about this. The whole dinner was the worst dinner we have ever had. This is not a place you want to spend your money. I regret now I did not complaint. The food is definitely not freshly made and it tasted like reheated leftovers from night before. This was very disappointing experience especially after amazing Devils Bridge walk. And I am very angry with myself I fed my children with this horrible food.

Mushroom starter has 1 and a half mushrooms, there must be a shortage!
Steak came up blue after asking for medium rare, mentioned to waitress but persevered with it, was very tough and inedible! Asked for a Blue cheese sauce but was given a small jug of just cream, I normally have my cream with apple pie but the Hafod arms do it differently! Discussed with waitress as to why we had still been charged full price was told as the food wasn’t returned still needed to pay full price! Never heard of such nonsense, removed starters as good will!!
The only will I’ll be doing is ‘will not return to the Hafod’!!

The location of this hotel come restaraunt is great, but the service is probbaly some of the worst I have ever experienced.
A table of french tourists beiind us had just complained it had taken almost 40 minuest to get a drink on a non-busy day, and from what we experiened, this wasn't out of the norm. The fact that the French contingent were actually staying at the hotel was even more surprising. They said they sat down at 7.30pm (4 of them) and they finaly asked for thier bill, forgoing thier desserts, at 9.30pm. Wow.
if you want a good meal, served in a timely manner, or just drinks for that matter, this isn't the place for you. For what it's worth, following a quick delivery of par standard food, our drinks and desserts remained undelivered, despite 3 or 4 reminders to various members of staff. A disgruntled employee then advised us that the owner didn't really care about customer service as, and I quote, "Most peopple are tourists, passion through, who we'll never see again".
I explained that I thought it was poor, and another employee stated 'You try working here mate', to which I replied 'I wouldn't' to which he replied - 'I wish I didn't!'.
That about sums the place up. Good luck.

Stopped for lunch. The staff that were on were very pleasant and hard working, but clearly rushed meaning you waited for service and food, longer than I felt comfortable with. Ordered a ploughman's expecting ham, disappointed to find the ham was the type you buy in the supermarket, thinly sliced and not at all nice. Was the only meal/snack during the entire week that disappointed.

We were a bit dubious lunching here as the reviews are very mixed but we shouldn't have worried. We booked a table outside overlooking the gorge and the staff on duty were extremely helpful and polite. The food was delicious and well cooked, and arrived in a reasonable time. We also didn't feel that the food was any more expensive than many other places we visited during our two week holiday, and was either better quality or on a par with those.
With the idyllic surrounds, great weather and good food, our lunch was one of our holiday highlights.

Food not good at all, just warm, couldn’t cut through the kale, no fluffy potato in the roasts. My granddaughter is a vegetarian but was given a beef dinner!! The crumble on the dessert was hard and big pieces , not edible at all. What a let down. We should have complained at the time in hindsight. We were recommended this place so was really looking forward to eating there. It was not worth the hours drive to get there and back!!

Booked a table here while on holiday and absolutely enjoyed the whole evening. The food was excellent, we had fish and chips which was cooked to perfection. The staff greeted us as soon as we entered and could not be more helpful and pleasant throughout the whole evening. I have read some of the bad reviews and can only say from our experience here was nothing but a really good one, so thumbs up to all at the hafod and keep doing what you are doing.

My husband and I have eaten at The Hafod many times and on the whole we have been impressed by the place since we live quite locally. Because we have always enjoyed in the past, and have brought family members here on a few occasions, we decided to book for a weekday lunch with friends visiting from Scotland. I booked a table online initially and the website said they’d be in touch soon to confirm it. No confirmation email after several days so my husband phoned and they said they’d not received the email but they could still fit us in. (This has happened on two separate occasions.)
When we came with our visiting friends we were shown to our table and then a waiter came over quickly and took our drinks order, and asked if we were ready to order food. We asked for a couple more minutes. At least 15 minutes later, after gesticulating across the restaurant, we finally got our order taken- 2 courses for each of our party. After a good 40 minutes, the waiter came past and told us our food would be 10 minutes longer. Many more minutes past and we’d now been here an hour so we called another waiter over to ask if he could enquire as to where our starters were. He sighed and shuffled off, cleaned other tables, put a high chair away, chatted to his young colleagues and eventually enquired about our meals. (In addition to the poor customer service, only one of the waiting staff was actually wearing a mask correctly- the rest had them on their chins and their Track and Trace was farcical.) A few minutes later, the waiter who took our order came over, knelt at our table and said that due to a new ordering system that our food order hadn’t gone through but as a gesture of good will they’d pay for our drinks. We were aiming to see the Red Kite feed at 3pm nearby and this was now 2:40pm so we got up and left, feeling hungry, annoyed by the poor customer service and embarrassed that our guests were left hungry too. Too much is being done to make the place ‘look pretty’ but lack of attention and inexperienced, rude staff have ruined what was a wonderful place a year or so ago.
We were visiting last October when the hotel was given an improvement notice by Covid officers- at the time we felt this was unfair. However, their recent low standards should prompt another Covid inspection visit by the council, but I doubt the owners would care as they are also never seen following Covid regulations whilst walking around the premises.

We visited here after travelling through the lovely Elan Valley on our way to Aberystwyth. The outside is smart and there is a seating area opposite. I ordered 2 latte coffees and nearly fell on the floor when I was charged £9.50 for what turned out to be at best lukewarm drinks. The person before me had 2 pints of beer and that also cost £9.50 so to be charged the same price for two coffees was nothing short of highway robbery. We certainly won’t be calling in here again when we next visit the area. Very expensive for a disappointing drink.

One of our favourite places to eat! Always a great menu with lovely food and service. We’ve never booked but owners and staff always do their best to fit you in even when it’s really busy. They must have amazing chefs to be able to cope and turn food out so quickly and of such quality. We live over an hour away but its still probably our most visited place to eat. Ideal to combine it with a lovely walk at Hafod Estate.

We were touring around Wales and stopped overnight in the pubs/hotels car park, we hadn’t eaten breakfast so were quite hungry and decided to pop in for a roast dinner and were so glad we did. Thick slices of beef brisket, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, vegetables including red cabbage and plenty of gravy, shame we were too full to have a pudding. The lady running the restaurant was very efficient with everyone who came in and as soon as our glasses were empty she asked if we wanted another drink, perfect Sunday.
