Have eaten here with friends a few times over the years after setting up for the Rock Exchange and the food has always been good. This year there was a revamped menu. I opted to have the duo of lamb which consists of a lamb rump steak and a mini lamb hotpot, which was very tasty and a couple of... More

Have had several meals here over the past few years, the menue does not appear to change very often, quite small inside and the tables are cramped which is not comfortable eating for some. It is dog friendly on the flag floor only which is fine but this area is tiny and we have found it impossible to book a... More

I didn't want to dine at this pub as it looks OK but a bit rough - don't be fooled, food and drink absolutely brilliant

As this is about the only Pub in Bakewell that serves food after 8pm we ventured it. Very glad we did. The food was of a very good standard and the service was warm and friendly. Definitely recommend this place and we will return next time we visit.

As I am doing sober October I only wanted a soft drink,so I plumed for orange and tap water when I saw the price on the till I questioned it because I thought they had made a mistake, but no £1.60 is the set price which I thought was to much but as we were out with the family I... More

Saw reviews so decided to try after our walk. Was very busy and empty tables had reserved on. Member of staff asked if I needed help said could I book for letter, but they kindly found us a table straight away. All 3 of us had the roast beef, it was delicious. Great fresh veg, big tasty Yorkshire budding with... More

Came here for lunch - it was comfortable enough and the beer was good, but the food was a definite let down. My suspicions were aroused by the menu offering a steak and ruddles ale pie but when I asked for a pint of ruddles they said they don't do it. The pie was clearly not home made but just... More

We booked a table for two here for my birthday. We knew we would be staying nearby in Darley Dale but we really don't know the area well, so having seen the pub on a previous visit (although we didn't go in) I quickly googled it, was fairly impressed by the reviews and thought it sounded like just what we... During our 4 night stay in Bakewell, we ate here several times, both for lunch and dinner. The 5 pound specials were an especially good deal. We particularly liked the fish and chips (some of the best we had in England), and the Bakewell Tart (as opposed to the pudding) was excellent.

It is a nice pub with nice selection of drinks and good food at good price. The place has nice atmosphere and when I visited it the staff was very friendly and professional.
