Having visited the Castle Inn before, I returned with with father, brother and his daughter for a late Sunday lunch. With parking in demand in Bakewell, we took advantage of the Castle Inn's carpark (lots of threatening signs warning of £100 fines; all you need to do is give your vehicle registration at the bar) and found a table straightaway,... We came here for dinner as it was advertised as a dog-friendly pub, and true to its word, it was indeed! From the moment we walked in (we had called earlier and booked a table for 2 and a dog), the staff were extremely welcoming, and brought doggie treats to the table (without us asking for it!), and we got... Came here on a Monday evening during our stay in Bakewell. Ordered drinks but then returned to the bar with our food choice. My wife's first choice was not available so I returned to the table to see what her second choice was and guess what?! Plus when I asked if my choice was available to find that wasn't either!... A evening meal for four was excellent, the choice on the extensive menu was huge with option at a variety of prices from bargain to more expensive. We all had slightly more expensive choices and they were all good value. The selection of beverages available was as expected in a quality pub, the real ale, Abbott, that I had was... More

Bakewell is a beautiful village and the Castle is a great example of a village pub/restaurant. As we entered we were hit immediately by the buzz of a full and busy restaurant. By the end of the evening, having enjoyed a really excellent meal, we knew exactly why so many have made this their local. The menu is fairly extensive... More

The service, atmosphere and food were great. Will go back again next time we are in the Peak District. We were a family of four. After tackling Grindsbrook Clough in a gale our energy levels were rejuvenated with main courses, puddings and drinks all for under £50. Great value.

We popped in for dinner and were so glad we did. It was absolutely delicious. The mac and cheese was probably the best meal I've had in England and the millionaire's cheesecake was amazing. Service was a bit slow, especially for dessert, but more than made up for in food quality.
