What a pleasant find. I have passed through Ripon lots of times but never notice this tea room tucked away in the corner of the market square on the same side as the town hall. We were on a break for a few days and tried it. Well, firstly the staff are lovely and friendly. Secondly there is a lot... More

The Wakeman's House in the market square is very popular with local people. We had a satisfying light lunch from the varied menu. There are 'meal deals' and the food is very reasonably priced and tasty. There is also a good selection of cakes.

The Wakemans House with all its quirkiness and history is a fabulous place for coffee, scones, cakes, lunches . I visited early morning for coffee and a wonderfully light cheese scone. Excellent coffee. Delightful staff

Lovely traditional English tea room situated on the edge of the market Square. The Wakemans house dates back to the 17th century and there's even part of the original wall, protected by glass. The staff are very friendly and the food very good from lunches to home made cakes. Well worth a visit.

We tried this for the first time on a Saturday morning for a quick cup of filter coffee. It is situated in one corner of the main market square just along from the Town Hall and Tourist Information Centre. It is an interesting old listed building , timber framed, black beams against white painted brick outside, wood panelling and original... More
