Have eaten in Cryans many times and find the food excellent and great value for money but my wife and I had a one night stay for the first time on Friday 29th Dec 23 and found everything top class. Very comfortable king size bed,...room temperature just right and everywhere spick and span. Dinner was excellent as usual and one of the best points about Cryans is the very welcoming and friendly staff. If you're visiting the lovely town of Carrick on Shannon then you won't find a better place to stay than Cryans Hotel.More

Brutal service. Reducules delay between courses. Gave up waiting for dessert and walked out. They shouldn't take the bookings if they don't have the staff

Disappointed with customer service . As a family we eat in Cryans regularly and always praise it as the food is excellent and staff are so friendly. Last night a member of staff with very poor people skills served us. After sitting for a lengthy...period we asked for the third time if someone could take a drinks order from us and we were told to “go to the bar” in a dismissive manner. Again to reiterate this is the first time we have experienced poor customer service as usually the staff are exceptional. The server continued to serve us, ignoring some of our requests and displayed very poor people skills. The food itself could not be faulted as usual and everyone was satisfied with that aspect of the meal. Disappointing encounter for us loyal customers.More

Well it certainly was a different experience. The breakfast was standard all fried meats with coffee and toast included. Nothing continental about it, no croissants or cheeses very much old school. Pleasant staff no issues service was quick and friendly. I went outdoors for a...cigarette before leaving for Dublin bus stop around the corner. I met the owner who is a mixture of a local politician, sports personality and a unofficial Garda representative 😅 she had a very topical conversation about drink driving. It's a very strange if not conservative town Carrick on a week day in comparison to the Saturday night mayhem, I had arrived at the weekend. While we were chatting as luck would have it a Garda patrol van drove past slowly and both occupants did a big waving gesture towards the owner who did a big wave back. So I knew from that exchange why her views were that way, being from Dublin it's sometimes alien to me that naive country in with the local law enforcement. In Dublin business circle's that usually means for favours, control and power usually in that order. Her main client base is from the station she told me around the corner and the court house when it's open. Food was fine, atmosphere was strange conversation a bit eerie outside if I'm to be honest. If small towns could talk Carrick-on-Shannon would be non stop ! Be interesting to know what the other locals think about things. It's made me more curious about the place the town itself and to try another eatery the next visit mid week. Bill was standard country price.More

We were staying on a boat and went into Cryan’s for breakfast, The breakfast was lovely, especially the poached eggs which were cooked to perfection. We were given generous portions of toast and offered refills of tea. We liked it so much we returned the...next day and the lady who served us remembered our order from the day before, even down to the juice we ordered…. Great service!More

Cryans offers a couple of different dining locations and options which are always reliable for some good food. The Sunday carvery is pretty good and we don’t mind queuing for the food although table service is also available. Big tasty plates of turkey and ham...for me and roast beef for himself served with generous sides of fresh cooked veg. Turnover of tables is pretty swift so there’s never an issue getting a seat. My only slight complaint is that the stuffing is dry and tasteless and himself thought the vegetables were a bit too hard but they were fine for me. Fast service and great value for a Sunday lunch. I also like the Boat House Cafe to meet up with friends it’s a nice casual and relaxed place for a chat and a catch up. They do lovely jam and cream scones and their brunch menu is pretty good too. Their mini breakfast is normally plenty for me and it’s generally good quality and very tasty. I was hoping to try the pancakes on my last visit as they came highly recommended but they weren’t on the menu that particular day. An excuse for a return visit. Nice staff, decent service, a good coffee - it’s popular for a good reason. Gets very busy at the weekends but midweek finds it a bit quieter and easier to get a seat. If you’re in Carrick you can’t really go too far wrong with Cryans.More

We had a fantastic hot lunch in Cryans at the weekend. Fast, courteous service, very reasonable prices and most importantly, a really excellent meal. I had piping hot, tender turkey and ham, others in our group had roast beef, others chicken and pasta. Everybody ate...well. The food was so tasty and served with care and attention.More

We were passing through town and stopped in the cafe for lunch. The food was good. The service was reasonably attentive. Beware. We paid by credit card. Without asking, the server selected that we would pay in US$ rather than euro. That gave us a...terrible exchange rate and a 3.5% mark-up. We were in Ireland for a week. About half of the restaurants offered this "select US$" option which we knew to avoid for the bad exchange rate. Everywhere else asked about this and accepted our answer to submit the charge in Euros. Cryans cafe was the only place where it was snuck in on us. That leaves a very bad impression.More

I stopped into Cryan's Hotel for lunch in the Restaurant, was on a long road journey and didn't feel like fast food. The welcome and service I received from Olive was outstanding. She made me feel so welcome (I was dining alone and I did...ask at reception for a newspaper but this is not something they do). Olive charged my telephone for me. Chatted to me in passing while I was waiting for my order. She arrived with a large water and Mi-wadi which was lovely and much needed (free of charge, just like in the olden days in Ireland). I ordered the Roast Beef dinner which was the best I have ever had, the meat mealted in my mouth. The food was roasting and it could not have been nicer. Olive continued to assist other partrons, knowing many of their names and she had an assistant Jimmy who she looked after and was training with such care. Jimmy was super too. I was wrapped up in just over 30mins, just what I needed quick and enjoyable. Will definitely be back. 10/10More
