I've had seafood in Chile, Seattle, Peru, Spain, France. The quality, variety, taste, presentation and flavor of the seafood platter that we had at this place is THE BEST EVER THAT I HAD IN MY LIFE. They don't have tables but they are associated with...a great Irish bar across the street, where they can deliver your order once you placed it at the Chef's Table. The people is also amazing. The team is made of two beautiful women (in all senses of the word) at the front desk, an amazing South African chef at the kitchen and a skilled fisherman on the boat catching the best sea creatures for your meal delight. Go, enjoy this place and return as many times as possible as we did with my familyMore

The Chefs table in reality is a take away kitchen, who also have an arrangement with Twomey's bar across the road to allow you eat on their premises. Once ordered within the food shop, the meal will be delivered to Twomey's bar or beer garden....Twomeys bar is a comfortable setting and the beer garden reaches down to the sea with pleasant views, hence the arrangement between bar and kitchen works very well and both the people within the Chef's table and Twomey's bar are extremely friendly and accommodating. We opted for the seafood platter for two which certainly isn't cheap at € 80, however the cost wasn't really the primary concern as long as it was value for money ! The very pleasant lady serving us recommended the rice option rather than chips to accompany the platter and as it turned out she was perfectly right. The seafood platter was served within a cardboard box with a plastic window which is designed I presume to maintain the temperature of the food, however it also contained the steam, resulting in everything, especially the calamari batter being rather sodden. The platter was certainly flavorsome but did not in my opinion represent value for money, containing half a fairly small lobster, a bowl of small meat mussels, circa eight prawns, a very nice fillet of hake, pleasant calamari albeit the batter had suffered from the steam and a nice rice. I'm no chef, however I do eat a lot of seafood and I would consider both the lobster and prawns were over done resulting in neither being succulent, juicy or delivering anything like the flavor profile they absolutely should have. The lady collecting the detritus of the meal asked how we got on and was visibly and understandably disappointed when I voiced my opinions, stating the price of fish and prawns etc. I'm in business myself and do not lightly berate any business, as stated whilst the platter was somewhat flavorsome, it was also in my humble opinion overcooked and did not in anyway represent value for money. Considering we were a stone throw from where fresh seafood is landed I had high expectations for quality and indeed quantity, I would be far happier to review the meal as an excellent experience, I didn't spend € 80 to be disappointed. Regretfully however it wasn't and the overall experience was disappointing and one I most definitely would not repeat.More

Oh my days..! We were so fortunate to stumble across this beautiful eatery on the way out of Castletownbere this evening. The minute we stepped inside the door, we knew that something special lay ahead. We were greeted by a super friendly lady who oozed...professionalism and a serious passion for her offerings. After examining the extensive menu, we opted to share the seafood platter with a side of home cut chips and we chose to enjoy it in Twomey’s pub adjacent from The Chef’s Table. We thought this was such a fabulous extra as we enjoyed a pint of creamy Guinness in a lovely spacious pub while we waited for our food to be delivered. We were soon tucking in to a wide range of the most beautiful, flavoursome and fresh fish..juicy scallops being the highlight. Everything on the platter was out of this world amazing..and the flavours are still dancing around our mouths a couple of hours later! It was such an experience that we had to pop back into the shop afterwards to thank the staff for such a wonderful meal and of course, it would have been rude to pass the dessert fridge so we grabbed a Mango and passionfruit cheesecake to enjoy at our Airbnb later tonight. It, too is bursting with flavour, light and fluffy!!! We just cannot wait to make a return visit here!! So fortunate to come across it - I would highly recommend anyone to drop in if they’re passing through. Wow, Wow, Wow!!! Have a great summer season - “Chef’s Table”!! We will be back soon!More

Outstanding food. Fresh, full of flavour an absolute delight. It honestly was the best meal we had in a long time. We had the chefs special, Crayfish dish with chips, Pasta with mussels and shrimp, Fish and Chips, Mango cheesecake and Apple crumble. The owners...are very kind and helpful. Great hospitality. Greeted with a smile. Our only regret is that our holiday is over so we can't go back tomorrow.More

We ate Chefs Table at Twomey's Ivy Bar in Castletownbere for my cousin's birthday. The meals were delivered to the pub and each meal was such a gorgeous presentation in biodegradable boxes. I had Monkfish and prawns in garlic butter broth with roasted potatoes. A...month later, I'm still thinking about this meal. If you are in Castletownbere or anywhere on the peninsula, RUN DO NOT WALK to Chef's Table for this meal and many others.More

In Ireland for two weeks - from Dublin through the Beara peninsula to Galway - hands down the best food we had in the entire trip. 67 years old and the fish and chips are now the new gold standard, but the daily special was...equally amazing. Will never again have chips we don’t compare to the Chef’s Table. Anyone planning a trip to the south (or the entire island) of Ireland - will not find better food than the Chef’s Table. Cannot wait for our next visit.More
