This was my first visit to the restaurant The menu gave an excellent choice The knowledge of the staff who chatted about the wine & where it was from Most of the ingredients were locally sourced. I choose the fillet with a pepper sauce. The sauce was excellent not like some of the watery sauces you receive in some restaurants.... More

My first visit & was highly impressed. Beautifully presented food which tasted as good as it looked. The vegetarian main course was ravioli with various vegetables in a delicious cheese sauce & was one of tastiest veggie dishes I've ever had. Starter of hummus & beetroot equally impressive. Waiter was helpful, friendly & efficient & service was quick but not... More

Lovely atmosphere and great staff but food was average at best. Starter special of scallops served with very poor quality black pudding @€12.95 was very overpriced! Scallops tiny🙁

This is a great restaurant. Lovely ambiance, great staff, fabulous food. All round I think it's definitely my 1st choice in Athlone. Not the cheapest, but still good value. And they do early bird specials at VG rates. Great wine selection, my partners opinion. Good varied menu. The stand out for me was the cod mains, faultless. Starters and dessert,... More

It's Valentine's Day and not everyone has the luxury of babysitters. So lunch at the Fatted Calf would have been nice except they were closed!!!! Business must be soooooo good!

Sparse food, it pretends be author cuisine but it just an expensive and not good restaurant, the sirloin very small and the rest of the dishes ridiculous! Do not recomend this place at lest you want spend a lot money and after that buy a pizza in a supermarket to eat it in home

Delicious food! Had a disappointing hotel stay in Athlone but our hour and a half in The Fatted Calf made up for it! My starter of hummous and goats cheese was divine, followed by a mouth-watering pork belly dish. Modern décor with unusual touches such as pewter tankards for the kids drinks- a real novelty! Well worth many a future... More
