Rang pub in advance to warn that train delayed due to a track fatality. Arrived at 23.00. Shown to room, but radiator was turned off and the room and beding stone cold. Room very small, bed sheets made my skin itchy, shower very low pressure water. Room is £90 per night here. Just not worth that sort of money. Breakfast... More

Just come back from our stay at The White Lion. Arrived at 2.15 on a cold November Saturday. Glad to get into the warmth of the pub. We were shown to our room number 1. The room was freezing! When i asked a member of staff, i was informed the heating went on at 4 or there abouts. I think... More

Four of us for lunch, table booked. We were the only people seated in the dining area at 2pm on a Saturday. I know why now after the quality of our lunch. One gluten free diner amongst us. We eat out at least twice a week and the majority of all local pubs and restaurants offer a Good choice of... More

Thank you for you comments. I am really sorry you did not enjoy your lunch. I assume you were the party of four sitting at the round table,I did speak to one of the gentlemen as you were leaving,he introduced himself as "Ollie's father",I asked if everything had been okay, and no mention was made of any problems. I can only... More

Visited with friends on a weekday lunchtime. Limited choice menu. Ordered off the specials board. The meals were all well cooked, tasty and enjoyable and good value. Good choice of beers.Good service, friendly and welcoming. Nice pleasant surroundings. My only detrimental comment is that a fixed price lunch menu was accessible to view on the website. When booking the night... More

Enormous portions and very nice food! Three of us met here for lunch - purely for the location that suited us. I had a croque monsieur that was massive - fortunately I was very hungry :) We were well looked after, food reasonably priced and then we drank generous quantities of tea in the garden. Would recommend.

Came here after a day at the NEC. Needed good food after a very busy day, and have to say it delivered! Think it was the best steak I've had in years, cooked to perfection, melting in my mouth and my partners whale (fish) and chips were delicious as well. would certainly go again if in the area. Table service... More

Attended the white lion as 1 of 6. Was very nice decor and atmosphere. The staff were very helpful. It got very busy but the level of service never changed, the staff remained calm, efficient and polite. Our waitress was named Emma I think, although maybe wrong. High 5 to her. Very good service. 👌

We visited the white lion over the weekend and although we have usually enjoyed a lunch there and it has seemed excellent value, today we were utterly dissappointed. We ordered sandwiches, both of which were served with a very appetising looking salad but which was warm and drowned in dressing. The bread was dry and the fish finger sandwich was... More

Not quite sure how to respond really, other than to say sorry you were disappointed with your sandwiches . We have been serving our sandwiches the same way since the spring of 2015. Previously to that, we did not serve chips at all with sandwiches, but homemade chips as a side order, which are still available on the menu.We only decided... More

I was just driving around looking for somewhere to eat when I came across this little pub. We went in and ordered and around fifteen minutes later we got our meals . The pie was drenched in gravy and was still dry inside and the chips were old and chewy . The chicken from the pie was hard and the... More

Really sorry you did not enjoy your two main meals, but it's a shame you did not point this out at the time. I can assure you that all of our homemade chips are prepared and cooked fresh each day,as I think is born out by the photos you have posted. Perhaps the frozen French Fries that your daughter enjoyed... More
