About
Hotel Doolin's Fitzpartick's Bar, famous for it's traditional Irish music, lively sessions, thirst quenching pints and wholesome food is popular with both residents and locals alike. Fitzpatrick's Bar is as much a part of the vibrant experience of Doolin as it is of the hotel itself. With its polished panelling, natural stone and open fire it offers a calm and relaxed setting during the day while at night it transforms into a lively bar with entertainment 7 nights a week. The Bar is split into two sections. Fitz's Pub is our cosy front bar with an open fire, ideal for relaxing with a cool pint whilst listening to our live Trad sessions. The much larger restaurant is where food service is provided.

Firstly, Doolin seems to have a lack of places to eat. Not Fitz’s fault, but the fact that two others choose not to open on certain days of the week and another closes at 8 meant knock on problems for this place. We asked earlier in the day and were told it was a walk-in service, no booking. Arrived after 8 and were asked if our name was on the list, we explained that it wasn’t, we were told it was walk in. Apparently this changed as too many people walked it that evening so they started to take names. Around 8:55 we were advised that they might not be able to take our party of 4, the local takeaway was closing in 5 mins so we could go there or gamble waiting for Fitzs, but if a table didn’t become free by 9:20, we would be turned away. This was stressful with two small children, but we decided to stay. We eventually got a table. Food was ok, service was slow, wrong wine was brought but we just drank it at that stage. After main courses we waited a lot time to have the table cleared. I called a waiter and asked him to take our finished dishes & bring the dessert menu. He replied that the kitchen was closed. The kids who had been waiting ages for their ice cream were devastated. We said they’d eat it quickly, but there was no chance. Very disappointing experience. Apparently they were short staffed but should warn customers of when the kitchen will close.

Stopped here for dinner. It was average. Staff were nice. The day was quite warm and the fire was lit so it was extremely warm. We got the fish and chips, fish batter was very soggy. Also got the chicken burger and the steak sandwich, both fairly average. The onion rings were the highlight.

We have eaten in Fitz's Pub many times over the years. The food has always been so tasty, great value, excellent drinks selection - we love the Dooliner Beer and the Pink Fox cocktail! Friendly team. Lovely new outdoor seating area. It is part of Hotel Doolin. Fitz's Pub and the Pizzeria are my two favourite places to eat in Doolin

On our first visit to Doolin we had various places recommended to us, this restaurant was one of them. We phoned in advance to each of them to make a booking and this one was the only one who informed us that they didn’t take bookings, it was a ‘ first come first served ‘ basis. So having arrived to our cottage and settled in, we took a trip down to Fitzpatrick’s really looking forward to a nice meal on our first night in Doolin. We were asked by a receptionist if we had a booking to which we replied we were told when we phoned to make an actual booking, that they didn’t take bookings!!! She was completely unimpressed and unapologetic, saying that she had changed the procedures during the week. We complained that if we had been told when we rang that things were likely to change, we would have rang back later in the week to get a table. As it was, there was now no chance of getting in anywhere in Doolin that particular evening because everything was now well booked out. So bad customer service in our opinion and not a great start to our Irish staycation.

After a walk along the Cliffs of Moher we made our way to the lovely seaside town of Doolin and we were delighted to find that Fitz’s pub was able to accommodate us for a late lunch.
They greeted us warmly and checked our vaccine pass and ID before seating is in their cosy dining room in a sunny window seat. Our server was really friendly and recommended the smoked salmon salad so that is what I chose despite planning to have the fish and chips. The salad was good but I regretted my choice after trying my husband’s fish and chips. The fish was so light with a perfect batter and absolutely delicious!! The best we’ve ever had!
Their house lager was very good too. We finished with tea and a delicious sticky toffee pudding.
The food and beverage manager stopped by our table and was really warm and friendly too.
For great food and service I would highly recommend Fitz’s as many of the other meals around us looked tempting too.

They straight up left money on the table by being so bad at service. We would have ordered three more drinks and dessert but no one seemed to remember we were there. Raw oysters took 35 minutes to come out, we were missing a side, the waiter upsold us on unnecessary sides and then never asked how our meals were. The halibut was amazing. The steak while cooked to temp very well left a lot to be desired for the fat on the edge that had no sear to it. Almost like a prime rib.
In a pinch we'd eat there again, but there are better options in town.

Recommended lunch stop by our tour guide. Ordered chicken curry with rice and naan bread. I may have ordered a wrong dish as the curry lacked the required flavor depth of Indian cuisine. Tour companions had also mixed level of satisfaction, so basically a hit or miss depending on the mains ordered. The pub though has a great local and vintage feel and oldest in the area of Lahinch, Ireland. Service was fast and courteous…

Hi Larry,
Thank you for your review, we are delighted you enjoyed your visit to Fitz's Pub.
I will share this with the team. Can we contact you regarding the curry and see if there was an issue with the flavor or was it that Irish Pub curries have to be very mild for the Irish pallet?
Hopefully, we can get in contact again and investigate further.
All the best,

Lovely meal with friends. We ate outside in a heated area that was covered. Very well laid out and social distancing maintained at all times. Staff all wore masks, very friendly and attentive service.. Food was really good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the evening so very much. Thank you to all.

Restaurant was certainly busy but clearly lacking in staff. Food came out repeatedly lukewarm and very disjointed. Waited for 30mins just for a bowl of ice cream for one of the children. Very disappointed in both quality of the meal and having to ask for clean cutlery, meals being warm and orders completely forgotten about because staff were totally overwhelmed. To be fair, the manager didn’t charge for the wine and other drinks that had been ordered with the meal.

25 minutes waiting for two bowls of soup. Small bowls served Luke warm. € 6:90 for a small bowl is far too expensive for what was on offer. Handed it back and went elsewhere.
Not enough staff working. They could do a lot better than this.

We had dinner in the newly refurbished Fitz's, the place looks amazing and the new menu was delicious.
We had the chicken liver parfait & arancini balls for starters, steak & the homemade gnocchi with sweet potato for mains. It was all really really good!
A nice varied menu overall. Lots more to choose from on out next visit.
We couldn't fit dessert in so we opted for a flat white martini instead, delicious!
Vesna the hostess was very attentive, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Not our first visit to this pub previous experience was great. Ordered an old fashioned cocktail priced 13.50 and got given one shot of jameson with 2 dashes of bitters had to ask for orange in it. It wasn't made properly no sugar etc. My husband went back with it to the young barman whom spoke with a senior member of staff to be told it was made properly and offered us a complementary bottle of soda water to mix with it. Very disappointing 😞 won't be returning.

Very disappointing I wouldn’t recommend anyone entertain this place. We received the dirtiest high chair I have ever seen. We would have left at this stage but as we had young children it was to awkward so we had the chair cleaned. Before we had the chance to read the menu 5 different members of staff asked where we ready to order. We ordered and the food came out in less then 1 minute! The food was average at best and very overpriced for what it was. When paying I was asked if everything was ok, I mentioned one particular item as being especially poor to the waitress and she ignored this completely. I would have been happier with a bag of crisps in the car.

Very poor experience here , had been here approx one year ago and had a poor experience then also but decided to give the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately it was in fact worse this time than last time. Firstly the lunch menu is very limited, I also had to ask for a kids menu although we clearly had a child with us so I would expect that to be given with our menus. Our food was served before our drinks and I then had to ask for the drinks when our food was almost finished, the drink I had ordered didn’t come so I asked for it for the third time, I never actually got the drink!!!! Staff need far more training than they have and most staff were finding it difficult to understand us although we are Irish!

Having spent the weekend in lovely Doolin, we decided to go into this hotel for a meal, I opened a white Penio wine, they didn't have any, I ordered water for the table whilst eating our meal only to be told we would have to pay for it as people where complaining that there was a taste from the tap water, so a small Aldi bottle of water was a wopping €3.50 a bottle, what a rip off scandalous outrages,
We visited other lovely pubs restaurants over the weekend within a two minute walk from Hotel Doolin (Fitz's ) Their TAP WATER was fine,
So we won't be returning
The wee chap serving was lovely Robert
