This pub has a lovely setting in a rural location. Staff very friendly. Decor is dated and could do with being re-decorated. Menu is quite limited but all food ordered was well cooked and very tasty, could not fault food at all. Nice selection of...More

We've been to this pub several times in the last few years and it doesn't disappoint. The owners are so welcoming, the location is stunning and the food and beer excellent. What more can you want?

Booked a table for lunch which is about half way round on a walk from Hartington . Very warm welcome from landlord and staff. Good local beers and although only had sandwiches they were delicious (especially the sausage and onion) A very nice pit stop!

We visited The Packhorse on a lovely spring evening - the beers are excellent, the landlord very helpful and hospitable, the lamb pie exceptional and so was the fish - the only downside were the chips - not the best, a bit thin and soggy...More
