We had rented the cottage next door to the Packhorse Inn so it couldn't have been more convenient! We were delighted with everything about the pub - the warm welcome from Mick, Sharon and the team, the beers, the quiz on Thursday evening and the food!!! On the first night, we had the pies - delicious! On the Sunday, all... More

We came upon this pub while on holiday in the Peak District in September. The situation is lovely and as soon as we went in we were struck by the warm welcome. There was an excellent choice of real ales and we were told about each one and even offered a taste of any we liked the sound of! That... More

Had three courses this evening. Camembert, Halibut and bread & butter pud. Great food, friendly staff would definitely return!

We arrived at the Packhorse on Friday afternoon at about 3.15pm having visited several other pubs that were closed. The opening times notice outside said they closed at 3.00pm (I think) but 2 "locals" in the car park suggested we go inside and we'd get a beer. We did and we did. The landlord, Mike I think, was very obliging.... More

We stayed here for three nights in 2008 and swore we'd return one day; it's still as good as we remember. The food is excellent with large portions, the rooms are clean and cosy, the garden is delightful and it's Dog friendly. Highly reccomended.

Good selection of real ales and a very friendly pub. Surprised that some reviews say menu is limited as we found it quite varied including some of the best vegetarian meals I've seen in a while. Pie & chips was declared excellent, as was the salmon that I had. Good homemade desserts of creme brûlée & fruit crumble, which was... More

Called on Sunday for lunch whilst in area, good food, real ales, lovely atmosphere, well worth the visit. Shame had to drive otherwise would have sampled more of their beers . Will call again when in area

A great selection of ales and guest ales. The food choice was limited and the quality was average. I would suggest Ye Olde Cheese Inn, just up the road in Longnor for a meal instead.

We dropped in at the Packhorse Inn for a drink during our stay in the Peak District. We did not eat though the food looked fantastic and definitely something we will try on a return visit. It was the beer selection that caught my eye. A really interesting selection and the landlord should be applauded for doing something a bit... More
