Went there over Easter weekend. A number of menu items were unavailable. The service was quite slow and the staff clearly not trained particularly well. Looked past this and still had a lovely time and welcome break.

Eating apfelstrudel at Moose McGregor's is just one of those things that need to be done when visiting Namibia. My first visit to Solitaire was in 2002 when Moose McGregor was a relative unknown. His apfelstrudel certainly did change over the years, contrary to what people will tell you. Since Moose's death the staff has managed to reproduce his famous... More

Before our trip we had read about this bakery, and need to stop for diesel anyway ( cash only). On a Sunday morning at 10.00am it was humming - about 20 minutes to get to cashier - they are just hopelessly understaffed and we felt some pity for the one woman who was trying to serve, make coffee, cut up... Stated by some as the best apple pie in Africa, the magic might have died with Moose McGregor in 2014... Although the pie is good the demand for it is more than the supply resulting in a wait of about 15 - 20 minutes. The consequence is that it becomes a mass production and everyday. Although a wonderful break from... More

We stopped twice, the first time the service was incredibly slow - we must have waited standing in a queue for 40 minutes after people in a tour bus. The food was ok but not really worth the wait. However, this is really the only "big" stop between Sesriem and Walvis Bay. The old cars and cacti and other plantations... More

Great selection of good baked goods. Excellent coffees and excellent staff. Nice seating area. The wifi is superb and overal this is just a really nice place to stop 'en route'. We had our tire repaired whilst waiting. But also if your tires are good, than do stop here !

A real anachronism. Hundreds of kms of dirt roads and a petrol and pastry oasis emerges from the dust. You'll be craving a cold beer having driven so far to see the sand dunes so why not take a bag of doughnuts, croissants or sweetmeats to munch in the car? African latte anyone.........?

Don't miss out on a stop at this Bakery. They make the best Apple Crumble I've ever tasted. Arrive early though as they sell out quickly especially if there's a tour going through that area.
