Went as a group and had a lovely meal. The plats du jour us excellent value although as a vegetarian I couldnt have it. Today it was green curry made with chicken and veg from their garden which those who had it all said was excellent. I had pasta with garden vegetables which was really lovely and wide range of... We live only half an hour drive away and visited 3 times after the barn was converted in a nice spacious but cosy restaurant. The conversion is perfectly done with great taste and respect conserving the old character of the building. Therefore the ambiance is great and little romantic with the great fireplace lit. Even the bathrooms downstairs are beautiful.... More

This restaurant is close to our house, but what gets us back there again and again is the quality of the food, the friendly and attentive service and the beautiful setting. When we take friends visiting from California, they swoon at the "cadre" and love their meal. We have eaten at Le Caillau often and will continue to do so!

My wife and I have just spent three months in the Lot region of France, our first visit to this area of France. Early in our travels we happened upon Le Caillau, incidentally closed for refurbishment at the time. An email to Chas to determine opening times over the festive season set us en route for a period of culinary... More

Excellent meal, international cuisine. More Stoke Newington on Lot than trad French. Drinking chilled red Cahors was an interesting adventure - worth a try. Good local wines - perhaps linked to the house? Clientele almost all non local - would be intriguing to know what locals think - would hope they appreciate the freshness of this approach and the profusion... More

Visited as a group of 8 for lunch. The new dining room is light, airy and very comfortable. We had lunch from the very well priced 2 course menu, which at 13.5 euros was exceptional value. The food was fresh, colourful and very tasty. English spoken, given the ownership! Highly recommended.

We have visited here several times over the years and it never fails to be very good. If anything it gets better each year! I even had my 70 the birthday meal here, nearly 30 of us. Recently the newly converted restaurant has opened. Superb. The menu changes every few months and there is a weekly menu du jour (but... More

The quality of the menu, which is varied regularly, continues to be absolutely wonderful, the thing that's changed is the dining area. The newly converted old wine barn is superb, the mix of restored original features and the new furniture and fittings adds to the pleasure of eating such quality fare. The all around views, the light from the many... More

I have been here a few times now and it is my favourite restaurant in France. The menu de jour has never disappointed. The setting is so picturesque and the service fantastic. You are surrounded by grapevines with the most beautiful medieval village close by. As you walk up to the restaurant through the gates the courtyard setting is beautiful... More

We heard about the restaurant through the chateau we were staying in. It's safe to say that it didn't disappoint. The combination of both the setting and quality of food was in my opinion the best in the area. We had previously eaten elsewhere and didn't think that it could be beaten. What in fact did it for us was... More
