The chef and owner must sit back and laugh at the patrons like us who lunched today at this 2 star restaurant and who payed over E500 for 25 of the most boring tasteless mouthfuls lacking any presentation and pretending to be high cuisine !...More

If going to a new restaurant is all about they experience, Mugaritz is a winner hands down. A beautiful building in the countryside with spacious seating, the friendly attentive service was outstanding. The smallish wine list produced a fine Spanish rioja that was suggested by...More

I cAnnot explain my excitement I had for dining at Mugaritz but prior to attending dinner I had read some fairly negative reviews about the restaurant - with my initial response to this being that the reviews must be from people who have little or...More

If you enjoy experimental food then this restaurant is suitable for you. But if you are not into this sort of thing, avoid this restaurant altogether. This restaurant is located in the countryside about 15 minutes drive from San Sebastián. Surroundings are nice but unfortunately...More

The Mugaritz experience we had was fantastic and each dish out of the 28 or more we tried, were unique in flavors and their explosions in our palates - the wine chosen were incredible suited for the feast. The Restaurant Sommelier was right on her...More

So you know those casual conversations with friends that go "we should go away for a foodie weekend"? So it started by thinking about somewhere local and ended up a 2-hour flight away in San Sebastian in the Basque country. You will doubtless know that...More

I am writing this a week after my wife and I dined here, because I was afraid that any review I wrote before now would be tainted by anger. However that anger has subsided and is now pure disappointment. We booked months in advance to...More

This is an extreme example of elite foodie chatter misleading the ordinary lover of good food. Ego meats pretension resulting in total vacuity, bordering on unpleasantness. The chef is so pleased with his own cleverness (and doubtless the plaudits and ratings it brings him) that...More

We have just left Mugarirz after a very bad, very very expensive lunch. The food was not good, and with their mad idea of not using knives and forks, just fingers, with no way of cleaning fingers between courses. It honestly was a very bad...More

Rubbish, utter rubbish! Will write full review shortly, but give it a miss! Case in point of how judges on the Michelin and World's 50 panel lack diversity. What an absolute shame! Below, what I wrote to the restaurant: "I dined at your restaurant today...More

No, there are no matching wine selections. However, the wine list is very interesting and the wine waiters are well informed and helpful. I note that there has been a few negative reviews so I advise anybody thinking of... More

Yes, Mugaritz can offer gluten-free options. The best time to request such is when you make your booking.

Ho totrotistolive, Are you suggesting restaurants are not required to serve good tasting food? I want to enjoy myself and enjoy every course and, if I want to be challenged, I'll read James Joyce. Eating out is not philosophy so, thanks for the review, you have really talked me out of going to Mugaritz. Michael Michael
