A group of friends went for a walk along the beautiful tow path by the canal just at the side of Owd Nell's. Then the rain came and we were SOAKED . we returned to the restaurant in need of warmth and sustenance. The fire was lit and there was a warm welcome from the staff . Food portions are... More

Two of us came for lunch, the service was good and we waited about 20 minutes for the food. The food was ok, it's cheap pub grub. You get what you pay for. As it was Bank Holiday lots of kids about so not a romantic venue. It's a beautiful location on the canal though for a walk.

It looks FAR better outside than in. Bare light bulbs covered with chicken wire and plastic, dusty plants augment the "look" (right next to the tables where you're eating) . Wobbly tables (inside) - always a 'rustic' winner that. Seating shiny with dirt from thousands of patrons. And since when do you have to order chips with a (tiny) lasagne... More

Called in for breakfast en-route to a car Autojumble last weekend, we had been here before last year but unfortunately the menu was limited due to a power cut! This time the electricity was on and the full breakfast menu was available, all buffet style and a massive choice of items from cereals, fruits, croissants to a full English! We... More

Stopped here on a trip to morecambe for nostalgia reasons. Picked a beautiful sunny day and went on the motorbike which seemed like a great idea. Seems like everyone else had the same thought that day too. That's not a criticism because the place is plenty big enough to support large crowds and there is ample parking too. This is... More

Part of the Guys Hamlet thatched village this was a bit overcommercialised for my taste but had a very large tasty lunch after very slow service ordering at the bar . Table 48 has a nice view over the canal and good to see the occassional barge passing the window in front of you

I live relatively local and for as long as I can remember I have come here to celebrate birthdays, friends birthdays, Christmas, family celebrations - you name it - we have celebrated here - however after yesterday I doubt that it will be one of our firsts points of call in future. We chose to go yesterday to celebrate my... More
