Expensive food. But everywhere is in Christmas Island due to everything being imported. Nice enough- but not a knock out. If you're visiting for a week or so, you would gradually work you way through all the eateries and this one is average in the pack. Watch the sun depending on what time you attend.

I ate at Rumah Tinggi quite a bit, and it was very hit & miss. Lovely location and good service. They do a good steak, the scallop entree with salsa was great, and the seafood linguine was quite good. However one night I ordered the spaghetti marinara and it was truly awful. I swear it was a can of tinned... More

When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the cheerful staff at Rumah Tinggi. We were seated against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean, palm trees and the glow of the sunset. It was nothing short of spectacular. We started off the night with the salt and pepper squid. It was a perfect union of tender squid with light and... More

The Rumah Tinggi Tavern and Restaurant is a lovely place to have a meal, the setting is wonderful with unobstructed views over the Indian Ocean. Just lovely. The menu is concise and as always on Christmas Island I was disappointed with the lack of good fish options. However having said that I had a good meal and enjoyed my evening.

This restaurant could easily give many Perth restaurants a run for their money. Besides the magnificent setting- pristine manicured lawns fringed with palm trees, facing the setting sun over the ocean, the food was fabulous. We had two pasta dishes which were full of delicious seafood, the Angus steak was tender and cooked perfectly and the salads where fresh and... More

Well the view was to die for! What a magnificent part of creation. I rocked up to "Rumah" on my last night on Christmas Island. I had spoken to the chef a couple of days before and she told me to come and try the Black Angus steak. I decided on the Reef n Beef and I was not disappointed.... More
