Nice tavern with cozy outdoor area, very friendly service and absolutely fair prices. The food (it is best to order cold and warm mezze to share) comes perfectly prepared on the table. Our Unpacked this evening (when we didn't eat fish): Fried veal liver, lightly smoked meat from Crete as well as the incredibly delicious cabbage rolls filled with rice. I have been bringing groups to Patmos for 8 years now. Tzivaeri Taverna is my favourite restaurant on the island, and Yannis is the heart and soul of the local. His mother cooks up a storm! Great food and atmosphere. My guests love it.

We visited this restaurant on two occasions and can fully understand why it is rated so high on Trip Advisor. The service and food was outstanding. We tried a number of dishes which were very authentic and tasty. The fish was fresh, the boiled greens (χορτα) were exceptional and the stuffed calamari was the best we have tried anywhere. The owner takes a personal interest in ensuring the customer have the best possible experience. Highly recommended.

We came here for dinner on Lisa's advice, but evidently we were wrong to choose what to eat. Asking how the fish soup was made, they told us that it was prepared according to Grandma's recipe, with fish of different types. At last! But finally a good meal in Patmos! Quick service, pleasant staff! The food is very careful. Eat spinach! Swordfish awesome baking, even the slices that were accompanying were very nice boiled. The crab salad is with surimi but it is handmade with a lot of fragrances, fresh onions, corn, flourine peppers etc. Generally no gypsum in the raw material, fragrances in all foods. We had 4 dinners at Tzivaeri during our 11 day stay, each time we were delighted with the fresh fish selection and the preparation. Husband is vegetarian and there were many delightful dishes for him to enjoy. The fish was offered usually fried or GRILLED which was absolutely delicious. The owner , Yanis, of the establishment and his staff were super friendly and his mother is the Chef. We will definitely return again during our next year visit to Patmos.

I won't spend time commenting on the great food, service and ambience, I simply echo what others have said already.
Instead, a few practical tips, the most important of which is, make a reservation. Not just at the weekend; we were eating here on a Monday evening when tourist numbers were still depressed by COVID, and they were turning a number away.
Do be careful when you arrive, the taverna is on the upper floor (entrance on the side at front as you approach) with a different establishment underneath.
The mezes are large portions, we ordered three for two of us with a salad, and would have struggled to eat more - and we have healthy appetites We found the house salad with red cabbage different and delicious.
If there is one thing they could improve it would be to make it clearer which menu options are mains. I think the first four in the meat section are, i.e. they come with potatoes, but when we ate here previously I ordered the spicy pork with peppers, it was delicious but just the meat, and looked more like a dish for sharing.

The move to the new settng has been a great success, in our estimation. No climbing up steep steps, and less of an incentive for certain customers to 'hog' a table long beyond the end of their meal.
We miss some items from the previous menu, but it's clear that thought has gone into what is available.
Food wise, the choice is still not as extensive as other restaurants, but what is available is of a consistently high standard. Gianni remains a fine host, and we look forward to visiting again when we return to our beloved Patmos in late August.

Horrible experience, avoid at all cost.
We visited the restaurant recently with my partner.
The food was so horrible that we did not manage to finish our courses. The calamari was not fresh, the zucchini was fried in a very bad quality oil, apparently multiple time used. The salad just basic. We were wondering how come this restaurant has the best reviews in Patmos. Unless the other reviews were fake.
We would definitely not recommend it.

Our favorite in Patmos. Fish in all forms was great, especially grilled and soup, but we also enjoyed a delicious octopus salad and very nice chicken souvlakia. We went only twice because we had no time to go oftener. Highest quality/price value.

I’ve been coming to this tavern for many years, and what impresses me every time is how consistent it actually is. While other taverns have good years as well as bad years, Tzivaeri excels every time- on the quality of the food and the service. Be warned, though: If you try Horta and several other traditional dishes here, you won’t be able to enjoy them anywhere else. They just won’t be as good!

A restaurant whose menu is coherent with dishes carefully selected in terms of taste and quality of ingredients. The service is excellent and friendly, beautiful surroundings and perfectly clean areas. The owner is a gentleman who clearly shows that he puts his personal stamp on every detail of the operation of his business and that he is rewarded by his customers for this too. We arrived at Tzivaeri without a reservation late on a Saturday night and were sadly disappointed as there were no tables, thankfully we had more luck the next night.
The food was perfect, the special Tzivaeri salad and swordfish were divine. The surroundings, atmosphere and efficient and friendly staff just added to the whole evening. We were so impressed with the salad and also seeing other diners portions of fish meze that we booked straight away for the next night. I couldn't fault it.

Located on an upstairs gallery this restaurant with great views over the port. Resevation recommended The service was great. We take zuchini flowers stuffed with rice, stuffed vine leaves all exellent. Main dish fried beef livers and pork with onion. Again exellent. Maybe the dessert is something they're should start to work on.
