We were visiting the village ( specifically the castle and Guildhall) and were looking for somewhere for a drink at 10am. Sat outside in their courtyard. Really pleasant and helpful staff, excellent herb tea and waist-expanding hot chocolate. Topped this off with fresh toast and tangy lemon curd whilst my accomplice had toasted fruit loaf. Many locals coming and going too so clearly popular with them as well. Very reasonably priced. Difficult to see how it could be improved. Go there if you can!

My wife & I dropped in to get out of the rain during a walking tour of Llantrisant. We wanted a cuppa & seeing the wodereful array of cakes we had a large slice of Carrot with walnuts. It was devine one of the best I have tasted for years. My wife had a Vegan Chedder cheese platter it was huge. Brown bread with crisps & a delicious slice of sweet melon to palete cleanse. A rather nice touch.Great cuppa and suprb service. It a very nice cosy tea shop & gallery. The gallery has a wondrful display of ceramic pots for sale without being over powering. The staff work very hard to make that Cuppa & Cake a very enjoyable experiance. They succeeded totaly on our visit. I award the 5 stars for making our visit so nice.

Excellent lunch and coffee, the sandwiches were overflowing with filling and there was plenty of choice. Cakes looked delicious but after the sandwich there wasn’t room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A trip after to well stocked shop is a must. We definitely will be back.

Was told how marvellous their ‘High Teas were’ so booked. No choice of sandwiches, given cucumber and ham. Scones were not light and fresh and half the size you would normally get. Cakes were small fingers of each sort. The pot of tea for one was literally one cup only. Staff very much to the point and needed to smile a bit more. I know due to Covid you must have good air circulation, but we were uncomfortably cold and to cap it all you had a printed notice on the table telling you that you only had the table for an hour . Surroundings were quaint and homely and there was a lovely shop upstairs which sold lovely unusual presents etc. Have really had much better teas for the same price elsewhere, doubtful if we would revisit.

Ok, we’d been shopping upstairs, we come down into the cafe, decide a cup of tea would be good, three empty tables, we sit down, fill in the track and trace form, the waitress then tells us that there’s no food because they close at 3pm, we said we just wanted a pot of tea, she said “ you’ll have to order it over there “ pointing to the counter, this surprised me as due to Covid restrictions, I thought you had to have your order taken and then your ordered items served to you. So, I walked towards the counter and the person behind this counter shouted at me “ don’t come here, get back”, I replied that I was told to order there, she shouted something a second time, I put my hand up, said “forget it” and we left. I have shopped here for many years. There are ways to talk to customers , I won’t shop here again.

Sandwiches bulked out with lettuce, tomato and cucumber, then info on the table telling customers, you have an hour at the table unless their not busy,,,more info on the table telling customers if they want the coffee and cake special , which is only on for an hour in the morning you actually only have 45 minutes so they can clear for lunch 😂. So while our sandwiches were ok at £8.50 each,we won't be returning it's not worth the journey to be watching the clock and having the threat of being asked to leave because your time's up at the table

We sat outside for lunch. Very friendly, pleasant staff who took our order at the table. I had tuna mayo, hubby had ham and coleslaw. Nicely presented and freshly made.

It's not worth the money. Coffee is dish water. Absolutely tasteless. As for home made cakes. No they are not. Dry and just not worh they money. Popular with the locals buy they must be so old they have no idea.

After recommendation from a friend I was taken here as a birthday treat - staff quite unaccommodating - arrived 10 minutes early, several empty tables but were told our table was still occupied so asked to have a look around shop! Once served we were asked to pay straight away and noted our stay was restricted to 1 hour slot, basic menu - sandwiches which were very nice and arrived promptly. We were both looking forward to trying one of the delicious looking cakes afterwards. We tried for 15 minutes to attract the attention of staff as our plates weren’t cleared to ask for cake menu while another table behind us arrived after us, eaten sandwiches, tables cleared and ordered tea and cake managed to attract attention at the same time as me a d I was told to wait as they needed to pay - eventually we we’re shown the menu followed by “we need the table in ten minutes!!!!!” - I stopped myself from responding with we’ve waited 15 to be given service!!!! As the lady on the next table then told us the cake was very dry we declined to order anything else and left - sadly we won’t be back!

We visited over the bank holiday. It's a nice setup and they seem to have a good covid system in place. The food was fine, I would visit again.

Don't be deceived by the name: the Butchers Arms was once a pub but it's been serving coffee, cakes and delicious cold lunches for many years. Set on the ground floor of an old Georgian inn right in the heart of a historic old town, the Butchers Arms Coffee Shop offers a range of coffees, teas and what I'd call "decent" cold drinks, and a wide range of delicious locally-made cakes and scones. There's always a warm Valleys welcome from the staff. Cold lunches are served in generous portions, with a variety of sandwiches, crisps, salad and a piece of fruit on the side. There's also the attraction of the Gallery shop on the first floor. It's been a magnet for residents of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as Rhondda Cynon Taf for years, selling a vast array of home accessories, china, paintings, jewellery and gifts, with specially enticing array of stock at Christmas and Easter. A new-ish addition, entered separately off the same flower-filled courtyard, is Art & Home, under the guidance of local artist Rhoswen Wilkinson, which sells stylish oak furniture and kitchen wares. Covid-19 restrictions are well adhered to here, too!
