We had booked our pre Christmas lunch having read good reports, the menu gave good options but the restaurant could have been warmer, the staff were good and gave us time to get through the meals we had ordered. For the 4 of us we had a bottle of shariz, 2 pints, we all had starters and then from the... More

Went here twice whilst staying in the area. Both meals beautiful, one of the best we have had for a long time. Staff friendly and helpful

It's over 3 years since we last visited The Plough, and decided to try the Sunday Lunch there, and it was excellent! We were greeted by friendly efficient staff, and taken to our table; there was a good choice of starters, mains and desserts, and if you only wanted one course that was possible. The food was well cooked, nicely... More

Understaffed, staff polite but no real extra effort. Food looked good but we didn't eat. Despite only being 10pm staff started turning lights off and turning fire off.... guessed it was time we went home or at least that's how we felt. But the place was clean, tidy and cosy shame there wasn't that extra touch on hospitality

A lovely Derbyshire public house with restaurant. Good selection of lunch dishes, nicely cooked and presented. The lady behind the bar, who doubled as the waitress, was very pleasant, friendly and made us feel welcome. Service was on the slow side which was surprising because there were no more than nine other people dining. The resident moggy was asleep on... More

Fab find after a visit to local attractions in Matlock area. Friendly staff and plenty of choice for Saturday lunch including kids options if asked staff. Good quality meat in dishes, hearty portions and overall good homemade food. Quaint setting with lovely seating options throughout clean pub, will definitely visit again if in the area and have raved to friends... More

Came here with our children's grandparents for Saturday lunch. Made very welcome on arrival and the menu choice was extensive. When served food was delicious and service was great. Worth the trip out.

The Plough is an appealing Derbyshire stone building in a pleasant rural setting. it serves a good selection of upper end pub meals and does so with some finesse. Everything on our table - quail, steak, lamb rump, and goat's cheese feuillette - was cooked precisely and served with some elegance.

We meet our friends here as it was between where we live and where our friends live. I had the flat Iron Steak, my wife had the Chicken, my friend had the lamb rump and he's wife who is Vegetarian had polenta cake. We had desserts which came out pipping hot and even with extra custard. My friend wanted to... More

For £11:95 for one course this was overpriced. Had Sunday lunches that cost the same (and slightly less) that were much better.
