On a very hot day, delightful outdoor eating at Bistro Louise. Medaillons de porc with honey melted in the mouth. Vacherin glace aux fruits rouges so good

My wife and I ate here last night and had a very enjoyable meal. We chose the set menu at €26 for four courses and all were of very good quality. We had a crayfish and smoked salmon salad to start and a lovely fillet of trout as the main. Two nice pieces of cheese next followed by a choice... More

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of the Gite in Flavigny where we were staying. I'm so glad we came. The lunchtime fixed menu was superb, it started with a simple dish of leaves and mushrooms in a balsamic dressing which was a great light starter, followed by the main of beef roasted on skewers and served with local... I was cycling through the area and on the lookout for lunch. I came across Le Bistrot de Louise completely by chance. The place was empty when I was seated at 12:00. I joked that I did not have a reservation. By 12:15 the place was full and people without reservations were being turned away. The set menu consisting of... More

The only redeeming features of this restaurant were that the staff were friendly, gave us a table outside on a sunny day and were generally helpful and nice. Apart from that, it is the worst "restaurant" that we have eaten in in the whole area and we have tried a lot of restaurants and different types of places to eat... More

We booked this restaurant, after reading the many good reviews, by telephone the day before. We drove from Paris arriving at 1.30pm for the "second sitting". The lady who seated us at the toilet door (when the restaurant was almost empty at that stage) was unsmiling and sullen. The sort of attitude that gives french people a bad name. As... More

Arriving late on a midweek night in late September, we struggled to find anywhere open nearby so were relieved to find this open and looking fairly busy too. The food was great and very reasonably priced. I didn't have room for a dessert but they looked delicious.

Le Bistro de Louise is the "baby" of Le Cheval Blanc at Alise-Sainte Reine, owner/chef M Régis Bolatre, and the food and service is of a similar quality, though on a less grand scale. Dinner is 23€ for the four course set menu, with a small selection of amuse-bouches for aperitif. The à la carte menu is not that much... More

On our first attempt, the outside, the poorly chalked menu and the fact that it was full, put us off eating our lunch here. We returned on the last day of our holiday to discover it was again full, but they could squeeze us in on the second sitting. This was after the main holiday season, so these must be... More

The best bistro in Venarey and indeed the surrounding area. Baptiste, the chef, and his team offer good, simple food at an incredible price. Lunchtime service is rapid with the majority of customers being local workers. The ‘menu du jour’ costs a tiny 8 Euros and 13 Euros with wine and coffee. Beat that! Evening service is more relaxed with... More
