We arrived at 8.40pm and were immediately informed that the kitchen closes at 9pm (Italians, take this into account!); they brought us menus in Italian, which also included numerous pasta dishes (which we avoided); we ordered a plate of goulash with potatoes and one of venison stew with spatzle and red fruit compote. Goulash turned out to be an ordinary stew with boiled potatoes; correct in execution, but different from what we expected. The venison stew is very good, a dish that we would recommend. Correct prices compared to quality. Courteous and punctual service, we were able to communicate in English.

We had dinner twice in this restaurant all delicious, gulash -grilled -venison- boiled. Only the slice iss ad Mara was not great because the bone came off the meat. But overall all very good and fresh, quality products

The restaurant, both of the hotel, and for external guests, has beautiful rooms, and an outdoor garden. Fast service and very friendly staff. The dishes, many of the Austrian tradition, great!!! Absolutely to recommend and also to book in advance. We had not booked and they made us sit at the hotel bar for a wait of about twenty minutes.

Nice location, just across the River, a few steps from the center of Lienz.
Very welcoming and professional staff and great food. The “plate of the house” was really worth the trip!

We’ve ordered fish because it has it in the mamę and was second in the rank. Trout which should be a skinny fish was drawned in butter! Potatoes were reheated. Poor meal!

Honestly I expected something more.... as a starter I took carrot soup. It was really tasty. I enjoyed it very much. Within the soup you could find fried and crunchy tiny pieces of carrots. It was great and ... really cheap (4,5€). But then came the worse part... a fish filet (zander) wrapped up with ham.... the fish was completely tasteless.... definitely deep frozen !!! Under it you could find overcooked pasta with tasteless white sauce. Disaster which cost 19,50€... If you want, you can pop in and try out some of the dishes. I definitely don't come back.

On arrival, 1st impression was bad smell from the kitchen. 2nd impression was even worst: nobody directed us to the free table, so we have chosen table without marks Reservation. After 5 minutes the waitress come and without greeting told us in a rude tone, that we sit behind a reserved table.
She pointed with her hand on another table and walk away.
Maybe this place is nice for locals, but behavier to the turist is rude.
So we went to the restaurant and pizzeria da Leonardo just 150m away and there was a totaly different story. We were very happy that we did not eat in Goldener Fisch.

We walked to here from our accomodation. We were early & the lovely young waiter showed us to a table & took our drinks order. We chose Austrian dishes of deer & a pork dish both served with spazels ( small paster pieces) as we are from Australia we wanted to eat like the locals! Both meals were tasty if a little rich & were of generous size. We enjoyed our visit.

Terrible food, terrible staff. I had a salade caprese (yes i know i was not in Italy) that had only tomatoes right....the mozzarella was unrecognisable and the basil was ruccola. The staff...I don't know...don.t want to be rude....where did these ladies come from?
