The City Cafe Glanzl in Lienz is located directly on the main square and is the perfect place for people watching in summer - to see and to be seen! Large outside seating area in summer. Inside has cosy and traditional styling. Basic food menus with snacks and salads. The City Cafe is a place to go and drink a coffee and eat an excellent cake! We offer great selfemade ice creams too! Our service is always good and food and drinks turn up quickly, even when it's busy. Large selection of cakes, sweets and chocolates to take-away - perfect for gifts. Does get busy and finding a table is sometimes a challenge but a short wait is well worth it. Also a great spot for viewing many of the free concerts taking place in the summer! A trip to Lienz should definitely include a visit to City Cafe. We are looking forward to seeing you!

We did the Drava River bicycle ride from San Candido to Lienz and were recommended this restaurant for lunch. It was easy to store our bikes directly outside where we took a table. It was a pleasant location outside overlooking Hauptplatz and we had beers, although the menu was limited due to it being Fathers Day. The Gelatos inside were great.

We had an amazing experience at City Cafe this summer. The pastries were outstanding and the service was exceptional. Melitta and family Glanzl operate a very classy Cafe that is a wonderful place to meet over coffee in Lienz, Austria.

Bar, pastry shop, ice cream shop located in the main square of Lienz, nice and welcoming with seats both inside and outside.
Wide selection of cakes at fair prices (€3.30 per slice), a little less a glass bottle of mineral water at €2.60. Beautiful cakes and all perfect to look at, the slightly flat flavor instead gave me the sensation of a less artisanal and more industrial product

How to make yourself feel unwanted!! Ignored for a long time, in the end the waitress decides to come and serve us and pretends not to understand Italian. Very unpleasant, irritating and annoyed by our presence.

Very nice cafe house.
Sunday afternoon full house and service top and very nice <3
Extended was very fine and also the linzer eye delicious.
Despite strong crowds, the conditions were super fast and super friendly.
The whole team is perfectly matched. Barista, dishwasher, cake ladies, ice cream ladies.

We had an excellent breakfast here. There was a wide variety of options to choose from. We sat outside with a great view of downtown old Lienz. Our server was really great as well. We will eat here again when in Lienz.

I need a wedding cake for an older couple where the groom has cancer. They want a storybook wedding before it's too late. We will have a small wedding party because of COVID. Frau Glanzl could not care less about our wishes--first saying we couldn't have a 'real' wedding cake for 12 people. We tried to explain, but to no avail. She literally threw the cake book at us, pointed to the cafe, and told us to go look in the book. There was never a smile, a greeting, or any effort to understand what we are trying to do for our brother-in-law. Shame on you, Frau Glanzl. I've lived in Lienz for 20 years and have never experienced such a mean person as you were today--making us feel stupid and unworthy. We will never step into your cafe again, especially when other firms welcome us with kindness and take the time to listen to needs for the perfect wedding.

A little special with its wooden panel booth & bar stools. All the desserts look beautiful but the taste is average. The hot chocolate is just a cheap mix. But they dont tell yiu that there is another hot chocolate option which is the Italian Hot Chocolate which is thick & delicious. The tiny town has only a few options on offer, so I guess it is another factor for its popularity. they the City-Torte. The Topfenstrudel was just OK.

We seated outside, wishing to have an ice cream cup. The waiters went around the tables but nobody came to take our order, we tought we were invisible... After 15 minutes we asked one waiter if we could give the order and she said something like "you have to go to the bar inside". We went away and had a cheaper good ice cream in another bar in the same place, served by a very kind waiter...

We were only passing through Lienz but stopped off for a wander round this charming town and for a coffee. I'm not sure if there was some event going on but there were a lot of motorbikes parked in view of the cafe and therefore this was an ideal place for us to sit outside for some coffee and cake. There was plenty of other food and drink on the menu and service was very good despite how busy it was.

On a sunny August afternoon, we stopped at Glanzl for the traditional Kaffee und Kuchen. Their terrace on the Hauptplatz is a pleasant place to spend some time enjoying their very good pastries. They offer quite a choice of pastries and ice creams.
