Looking for a real traditional dinner in jogja? Visit Wim & Philip in their private home - the Sawah and enjoy and exceptionally well prepared rijstafel. The food was excellent and the owners are very friendly and open for a nice conversation - like with old friends. We really enjoyed it and stayed for 3 hours. Pls make a reservation... More

The food was very tasty and the host really friendly. The dinner in the nice ambiance of the garden is definitely recommendable. However, as there was way too much food, also the price was on the expensive side.

Sorry that our special concept (private home cooking after a booking) has one set menu only. I agree, the rijsttafel main course contains many different dishes, more than most people can eat, but every bowl should have sufficient food for everyone in the party. Nevertheless we still think € 10 per pax is a fair price, even for Indonesian standards.... More

And it's really a great place to eat! Wim and Philip serve a fantastic traditional Rijsttafel in their own house, just about 25 min outside of Yogyakarta. In the great surroundings of rice fields this is as Indonesian as it gets! Afterwards you will get a tour through their lovely house. Make sure to book at least 1 day ahead... More

With 6 weeks spent travelling in Sri Lanka and Java this restaurant was one of the highlights. The chicken soup was unbelievable and the salad dressing based on fresh tamarind exceptional. The restaurant is small and intimate and you should book to ensure your place and allow time for food preparation as this is not the type of food that... More

eat kind local menu in village atmosphere, old traditional java house and combining fishpond and nice gardening. But you must take reservation before, because table available only 7-8 tables.

Hello, Thanks a lot for your wonderful review. Just one remark about the distance: our place is 2km South of the ringroad, 8km South of the Yogya city center (railway station). A taxi from there takes 20-25 minutes. Less if you stay around the popular Prawirotaman area. If you drove 1 hour (!) you must have stayed in the far... More

The sawah is a home cooking restaurant on request with traditional indonesian food. The ambiente is wonderful. The meal is served on a terrasse in a beautiful garden. The feeling of vacation is great because it is very quiet and idyllic! After a delicious chicken soup the main dish was served in cute little cups. We had the main indonesian... More

Description
PLEASE NOTE: ADVANCE BOOKING is STRICTLY NECESSARY, minimum 8-12 hours ahead.'Cooking after booking' is the motto: we are not a normal restaurant but a beautiful private home. At the moment our ONLY and highly appreciated menu is our RIJSTTAFEL (rice table), with about 10 different Javanese dishes. The name rijsttafel is Dutch, the food is not! ;-)
