Santos and the staff were so nice and inviting. We laughed together and enjoyed this beautiful little restaurant that served us one of the very best meals of our lives!! You must try the Chocolate Clams!! Sea Bass and Short Ribs were amazing as well!...So grateful for everything!!More
Yummy yummy, if I had to say something about the Bal Nak. My family was really happy to be there, the atmosphere, the food and the beverages, so fresh and original.
The food is excellent for vegetarians and no vegetarians. My friends and I had a good time because the staff are so gentle. Good for nature lovers
Many restaurants in this area of Tulum are big, play loud music, or have eye catching design. Bal Nak' doesn't have any of this, but their unassuming presence shouldn't put you off. It's small, tastefully designed, and the food is very good. We started with...appetizers and the broccoli dish was a standout. We could tell right away that all the ingredients were fresh, but the broccoli was cooked perfectly and had a delicious sauce. For entrees, we can recommend the loin steak which cut like butter, and the shrimp that had an amazing sauce. The most Instagram worthy dessert we tried at our table was the coconut ice cream served in a coconut shell. Each one in our group was extremely satisfied with the taste and quality of everything they ordered. Absolutely recommend.More
It is really recommended. I had never eaten octopus and shrimp prepared in a totally original way. I think this restaurant makes the best food in Tulum and other nearby places.
I loved that restaurant! It is a surprising place in the middle of nature. I would never have imagined that Mexican food could be so original. I sent many photos to my friends.
This is a quaint and elegant establishment. I can’t remember our servers name but the service was amazing. Everything she recommended was on point. They had the best drinks I had in Tulum. Try the cornbread popcorn dessert, I know what your thinking… cornbread and...popcorn, how? It works though!More
This is one of the best meals we ever had. The restaurant was empty, which was baffling, but it’s the best hidden secret in Tulum. The setting was beautiful, staff incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and the food was unparalleled. Every single thing we had was...bursting with flavor and better than the last. If you don’t go here, you are missing out. Each piece felt like a work of creative culinary genius.More
Service was good. Staff were friendly. We had the broccoli to start and share which had delicious flavours. For mains we had the catch of the day and the short ribs - food was overly complicated - but all in all a pleasant dining experience.
We have eaten at a lot of the higher end restaurants $$$ on the strip… and this by far has been our favorite. It’s reasonably priced and the dishes are so tasty. Wish we found this place sooner. Can’t say enough about the service and...the flavors of the food. I would highly recommend.More
Where do I even begin with Bal Nak’!? My husband and I came to Tulum back in September to try a bunch of restaurants to find a place for our rehearsal dinner for our wedding week. We tried a bunch of highly recommended places but...none of them were quite right. They were too loud, too crowded, too expensive, not friendly, or some questionable characters around. We stumbled into Bal Nak’ accidentally and actually only had one cocktail there - their famous green drink - and immediately decided it was our spot for our 33 person rehearsal dinner. It’s absolutely beautiful being located on the jungle side. It’s an intimate setting and it’s still somewhat of a secret dinner spot, which you can tell by the unpretentious staff and incredible food with BIG portions (first for me for Tulum). They were SO easy to work with while planning our event. We literally just had to show up and they had such a beautiful table setting for us and made sure that no one had an empty drink the entire time. We had the entire back restaurant to ourselves and it was the most perfect, intimate, unique, rehearsal dinner setting. We started at 7:30 and I thought it would be no longer than 2 hours - we reluctantly rolled out of there well after 11pm. If you’re in town visiting Tulum, you won’t find any better food or wait staff or mixologists - I promise you. Can’t wait to come back.More
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Tulum. We always dine here on our first night in town and either on Christmas day night or Christmas Eve, and finally, last night before departure. We found them a couple of months after they opened in,...I believe, 2018. The menu is short, but everything is delicious. My husband had the octopus that was done to perfection. The first night, I had the Small Bird, slowly wood-fired roasted perfectly, and another time, I had the steak bits that were cooked rare, just the way I like them. For Christmas Day, we invited friends from home and their family, and it was their first time in Tulum and at Bal Nak'. They said it was the best meal they had had in Tulum by far. One of the reasons we love this restaurant, aside from the ambience, particulary in the back section, is the fact that one's ear drums are not assaulted by boom-boom-boom that seems to be the common factor in so many of the restaurants. We will be back next year, for sure. Fair warning, the sign is low, so it is hard to find for first timers. When you see The Store brightly lit on the left, Bal Nak' is just a snitch farther on the right. Then comes parking, and don't let them overcharge you. $20 US is plenty for the evening.More
We have been coming to this restaurant since the first year it opened. They’ve always been excellent, tonight dinner was even better than last year. I had the grilled octopus that was as tinder as it could be, my wife have the young chicken, moist...flavors that had been developed over slow cooking for hours in a wood fired oven . We will return at least one more time while we are in TulumMore
We had the catch of the day and the grilled octopus - and then ordered the grilled octopus a second time. Literally. It was so good!
