My wife is a vegetarian but as a treat will try and obtain chips from a fish restaurant. A few good restaurant have a small dedicated fryer to accommodate dietary needs but have been informed by the main office of the company that this is not possible at their establishments. Although the chips are cooked in vegetable oil, if requested,... More

Been here twice as The Wetherby Whaler. Really enjoyed it. Went as a small group and paid around £9 for fish, chips, peas and a pot of tea which I think was well worth the money. Enjoy

I came on 1st January for a New Year treat with a group of 8. There were a lot of people waiting for tables but we only had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. My husband is a coeliac and I struggle to eat a full portion of fish and chips so I also get the gluten free batter... More

This is my go to place for delicious fish and chips and it never disappoints. The portions are generous; service is fantastic and quick; and we have always been seated without any wait. I can't fault it and would highly recommend anything and everything on the menu.

I visit both the restaurant and takeaway. Food is always delicious. Salad box is brilliant for the price. More than you'd expect in it. Staff are friendly and even the chefs have a chat while being suitably busy. Always clean. Always worth the extra pennies for the food and service. Happy New Year!

I remember Harry Ramsdens days and expected same or better quality of food , however the fish and chips we got wasn't the crispy fresh battered and fried in fresh oil , it was dark overly cooked and too dry for the tasting ,chips again too dry and dark as if someone's left them under warmer for ages , curry... When I arrive if there is one particular fryer on - I get asked what size fish I want as I have my dinner/super prepared in vegetable oil. Divine is generally how I feel, or to full! I am a frequent visitor!

All my family love the Wetherby Whaler especially my husband! We visit at least once every fortnight and it never lets us down. Excellent food. Clean, relaxed environment. Friendly staff. Great for the whole family and little ones.

The 3 fish and chips I ordered from the take away at 9pm did not resemble the mouth watering picture presented on the Whaler website. I felt cheated, the portion size was very small, and the peas and curry sauce also ordered tasted synthetic - there was a distinct lack of quality to the food and the service. Whist I... More

Hi, in reply to your negative comments and extremely low rating, unfortunately it seems we were never going to please you. From entering the outsales and threatening that our food better be nice and the chips better be hot otherwise you would tell all your friends, it seemed as though you already had no intention of enjoying our food. Well... More

This place is great. Huge portions and a good mixed menu. The service is fast and we love the piano guy playing. The kids all got a toy too. They do gluten free batter and there's a nice atmosphere in there.
