My wife and I booked for Friday night and the place was full, every table taken. We had pre-ordered the Christmas menu and found the food absolutely delicious. My wife chose Loch Etive smoked trout with Wye cured gravadlax, in a lemon, dill and mustard sauce. I had crispy Tempura prawns with a sweet chilli dipping sauce. For mains we... More

I travelled over to Woolpit with my family to see whether the rumours were true. I had to see for myself. After speaking to a few friends at work who had dined at the Swan a couple of weeks back, and who also commented on how great the steak was. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by two young men... As it was bonfire night and our local pub in Wetherden had a band playing we decided to drive over to Woolpit for a bit of a refined pub evening. We certainly weren't disappointed, the two lads working at the Swan were on top form, drinks were swiftly dispensed, and we settled down for an evening of good food and... More

We had heard of the Swan from friends, so drove over to try it. The Swan is in the middle of the village facing the attractive church. It is a period building spoilt a little on the outside by an illuminated 'open' sign. Inside the bar/restaurant is spacious and with a good atmosphere helped by a log fire at one... More

We have lived in the next village to Woolpit for years and have never been to The Swan. We went last night and were really impressed. It is very well decorated and has a nice atmosphere. The food was quite high end and so consequently pricey for a 'pub'-a fillet of beef was £25. But it was a beautiful fillet... More

Went for a meal here without knowing what standard to expect as it was our first visit to the The Swan. I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. I had the crab cakes and my partner had grilled halloumi for starter, both dishes were very good indeed. Followed by red poll fillet steak for my partner and I... More

We were offered two apologies that our food would be a while... but over 90 minutes is too lnog. We noticed people around our table were served before us even though they entered the pub much later than we did. The holy trinity is "sweet, sour and spice". The gradvalax marinted in beetroot ( sour), with an enormous amount of... More

The swan offers an interesting selection of starters and main courses ,in fact most of the starters looked tempting .The portions are generous but not overwhelming and the owners friendly and helpfu with a genuine interest in the food that they offer.A very pleasant change from formulaic chain pubs and probably not much more expensive..

What a marvellous experience eating at The Swan in Woolpit! Excellent, friendly service from the waiter who patiently answered all our questions about the various dishes on the menu. Then, the food is exquisitely well presented and tastes absolutely delicious. We had the crab cakes as a starter and then I had the hake – Pan Seared with Chilli, Garlic,... More
