I worked in Trinidad for 6 years and lived near Trincity Mall, so ate and drank in Bootleggers regularly. The menu is extensive and the food quality is okay. However, I've had several occasions where my food has not been hot when served. Bootleggers has moved to it's current location a few years back, but I have to say I... More

During the Christmas season I was looking for an affordable place in the East to show my appreciation to my staff. I facebook messenger Boothleggers inquiring whether they were offering a Christmas Buffet. I was informed that it was a consideration so I messaged back saying to post the menu once available cause I was very interested in their venue... More

I visited this establishment on a Friday, it was fairly crowded and without a reservation a table is difficult to get. The service can be better as it took a while to order and even longer for the ordered to be served. The food was tasty and the prices weren't that bad, and the ambience and decor was good.

Took an hour to get food and the restaurant wasn't packed. Service was very slow. Took me another twenty minutes for the server to come back to receive payment.

My husband and I visited this restaurant for a quick lunch. We were seated immediately but it took awhile for the food to arrive... the restaurant was not busy as the time either. The service staff were focused on their phones rather than serving customers. Our waitress was nice but they need to be more customer focused... the food was... More

Seated on the upstairs balcony and waited for 30 minutes before I walked downstairs to the hostess and requested another seat. It was crowded downstairs and was quickly greeted by my waiter who turned the entire experience from TERRIBLE to VERY GOOD! Lots of locals - I was the only tourist; this place needs to be more responsive to non-Trinidadians!

Took about 10-15 minutes to bring a drink. Other than that food was good and brought relatively quickly.

This is directed to Reviewer Tough M:

So because the customer service was bad, you are coming on a public platform crying racism?? The customer service in Trinidad & Tobago is not up to par with America's, trust me on that fact. I was raised in the US and KNOW THIS TOO BE TRUE. But, please don't come and tell foreigners they aren't accepted in our country when Trinidadians treat foreigners of ALL "COLOURS" very well. As a matter of fact, T&T citizens are known for looking down on darker people. Not proud of that...

If you were actually a resident, you'd know these things but you're not. Therefore, what you wrote is completely out of line to put false blame on your poor customer service as a "racist" action. You seem to want to avoid foreigners from visiting our country. That is evil of you to try and take bread out of the mouths of other businesses etc due to your experience at ONE restaurant.

I have many white friends who came to Trinidad and are happy to come back. Unless you have SOLID FACTS & ACTIONS to back up your claim of experiencing racism as a foreigner, don't come on Trip Advisor to LIE to people. It makes you look very stupid. Considering you are claiming the employees were prejudice based on your ASSUMPTIONS not their words or actions. You didn't get served because they need to teach their employees timeliness and customer relations. They are careless with ALL customers, not just you. The Caribbean as a whole are known for being laid back and taking their time,. Nobody told you this??

Self entitlement and poor victim mentality is a sad thing. Don't bring that into my country.

One last thing:

If they're so prejudice to foreigners, how come they hired a Spanish-only speaking hostess? You think we can go to South America etc and get a job like that without knowing Espanol? Lady, think twice before you speak, ok. What you did is very WRONG. Speak about the lack of customer service, don't make false accusations about an entire country regarding their views on foreigners. That is what we Trinis call "making confusion" or bacchanal. Stop it.
