Visited this pub recently for a bit of refreshment after a day walking the dunes. Outside it looks precisely what you imagine a small harbour village pub from yesteryear would look like, and the same inside. A fireplace in the corner, wood throughout and a genuinely quaint atmosphere. The pub serves *excellent* ale brewed on site and home cooked food... More

The Ship Inn is a fabulous place whatever the reason for your visit. A half term family break included Saturday evening dinner with beer and individual visits for parents popping in after a beach walk. Always friendly and cheery with either staff willing to talk beer and what you have been up to or customers chatting about the weather or... More

Gets busy for all the above reasons. But we have visited in different seasons, always got a good beer and food, lovely outside setting when weather permits. One of my all time favourite pubs!

We had booked The Ship as every time we visit I'm driving and can't have a drink. So it was my wish to have a evening meal and as we were staying in Embleton ,a taxi from Sovereign taxis took our party of seven to the Ship. I was looking forward to trying the ales that were brewed in their own... More

Was really looking forward to lunch in a warm, cosy pub after a long walk but found the Ship Inn very disappointing. It was freezing outside and not much warmer indoors in the bar area. Ordered local kipper pate from the "mains" section of the menu only to discover it was barely a tea spoonful which was impossible to eke... More

Called in at end of walk to Craster and back. Very good beer, pleasant coastal environment and welcoming inside - added benefit of local Jazz Group giving a VERY good performance which persuaded us to stay longer than we intended.

We are regular visitors here and wouldn't want to change much about it, except one thing. Please can we have more fresh locally sourced seafood options on the menu? I know the kitchen is limited and what they do produce is tip top, however the lack of more variation is a shame. No need for more choice, just a bit... More

Stopped here to lunch on a circular walk we did from Craster. Had hot drinks and bacon, mushroom and tomato stotties...and we tried a 1/2 pint of their own beer brewed on site. Delicious! Welcoming and pleasant staff. The pub was warm and a great stop off place for us on our walk. We have visited before but it was... More

We had great food in this pub, and although it was very busy, the food came promptly and was delicious. The ale from its own brewery was also excellent and well worth sampling. If you go to Low Newton beach or walk on the headland, a visit to The Ship Inn is highly recommended.

Lovely pub in a beautiful part of the country. Good food nice original beer and friendly staff. Nice place to stop and refuel after a long walk and micro brewery makes it a bit different.
