Love this pub, it's always busy, lots of local interest but also visiting real ale fanatics. We've not eaten yet as it does sometimes have a waiting time on food, due to it being so popular.. Sure we will eat there soon!

We chanced upon the 'Prince' whilst visiting Newark for the first time. We arrived at 14.20 with lunch service finishing at 14.30. A cheery welcome and reassurance that we were still good to get food was followed by a look at the menu. I opted for duck 2 ways but sadly I was too late. Stuffed chicken balotine was a... More

This pub has so much character - the downstairs is relatively modern with lots of brick-a-brack whereas the upstairs has lots of little snug rooms, all with their own name, with a civil war theme. The menu went much further than normal pub food - i had duck two ways with apple mash and blackberries, very tasty. There was also... More

Wow ! how did this place sneak into Newark? Great food, great service, felt like I was in a country pub in the middle of nowhere. Attentive staff, made sure we were made aware of delay to food. Ordered pizza wraps - they were fresh, well presented and tasty!! A lovely place to visit. We will be back

I'm a fool for these old pubs where the history is so evident and The Prince Rupert is an amazing jumble of rooms with beams and character aplenty. The beers are well kept and the gin menu is extensive - the rhubarb and ginger hits the spot - and didn't strike me as overpriced. The food was freshly cooked and... More

It's a beautiful interior and great location being tucked away in a backstreet of Newark's cobbles. The choices for lunch are a bit limited and also rather pricey. The food was nice however - we got a pizza to share.

This place is lovely and tastefully decorated, lots of little cubby holes and the upstairs rooms are also very cosy. The food is also really well presented and you get a great choice from light bites to main courses but the only downfall with this place is the pricing! It's way too over priced across the board and this goes... More

Rude staff, couldn't even give us a smile when we came in. We popped in for a drink because we wanted food, went to order food only to be told they had stopped servicing food at 9.....it was 9.02!!!! Absolute disgrace!!! Would never come back. If I could rate this 0 I would.
