I tried the Chicken Chimichanga so now I know what a deep fried tortilla is like. The outside seats have a great view across Lake Burley Griffin to Mount Ainslie.

We dropped by for lunch twice. The first time we actually had lunch. The second we had the breakfast! It really is a minimal service cafe. Our food was fine and we thought reasonably priced. But it is a bit tiring having to queue everytime...More

When you pay $17.50 for breakfast plus drinks you have an expectation that the service, quality of food will be commensurate with such a premium. This was not! I had the ranchero eggs. The eggs were dry and cold, the avocado was so cold it...More

Came for breakfast this morning. Have been before for lunch quite some time ago and it was nice. This morning had the hash brown benedict and the hash browns were rubbery and like cardboard. Took all my effort to cut them with knife. It was...More

A cafe in this setting has so much potential but Bookplate does not live up. Friendly but confused staff and fancy uniforms but very casual, uncaring atmosphere where you line up to order. I paid $18.50 for a sprite and a quiche with salad (my...More

Seating was chaotic. The reservation/seating system does not work. The food was good but our meals arrived separately and after a 35 minute wait - not something that would happen in a fine dining restaurant, which is what the restaurant aspires to be. Ditto for...More

Went there for lunch, there was plenty of variety. I had the chimichanga not the best but it was ok. Friends had the pumpkin and rosemary fritters which they said were delicious. Overall ok but can’t complain for the price.

This has to be one of the most beautiful settings in Canberra. Great Lake views, comfortable seating and huge umbrellas. Even on a wet day was gorgeous. The menu is varied but quite small. Check for blackboard specials. I had the pumpkin fritters with salad....More

On a beautiful holiday Monday, after walking the Two Bridges, we decided on lunch at Bookplate. The verandah is a lovely place to be on such a day. We decided on the Bruschetta, as it sounded so refreshing. Heirloom tomatoes, bocconcini, rocket with a balsamic...More

Lunch on Friday with work colleagues left me with terrible food envy. The burger was dry and overcooked (and seemed to be a commercially prepared patty as opposed to anything freshly made in house). Others had much more enticing looking meals (chicken curry, potato gnocchi,...More

I have just rung the "Bookplate" to check on this, and yes, they are very happy to have you and your dog on the patio. So the answer to your question is definitely 'yes.'
